Helen Lyle is a student who decides to write a thesis about local legends and myths. She visits a part of the town, where she learns about the legend of the Candyman, a one-armed man who appears when you say his name five times, in front of a mirror. Of course, Helen doesn't believe all this stuff, but the people of the area are really afraid. When she ignores their warnings and begins her investigation in the places that he is rumored to appear, a series of horrible murders begins. Could the legend be true?

I've tried to watch this film multiple times but could never get past the 45 or so minute mark because the pacing is so slow.

Oh, I love this movie. Love Tony Todd as Candyman, and this is one of the few films I can tolerate Virginia Madsen in. I thought the story and pacing was fine. Does drag in spots, but overall I like this movie a lot.

I've only seen the... third Candyman flick? Made me afraid of bees. Well, more afraid of bees.

I've seen parts of 2 and 3, so I really have no idea how those were in comparison to the first one. I really just couldn't sit there and listen to all that boring talking. I can only give a movie til the halfway point. If I'm not interested by that point, then I don't give a ish, even if what comes next is the greatest thing ever filmed.

Never finished it and I doubt I ever will. Still think Tony Todd is amazing though.

I love the original Candyman so, so much. Very well made. Tony Todd is great as the title character. I'm very interested in the new movie coming out this year. Can't wait.
Never saw the sequels. Tried to watch 2 and couldn't get through it all.
