Yeah. The good thing about the new Evil Dead is that Raimi and Campbell produced it, and who knows the original better than them? I'm gonna be crushed if it sucks. I may renounce new horror forever and just watch what I know I like.

Some remakes work, others don't. Don't deprive yourself of some good stuff due to a few half assed attempts at cash ins.

Yeah, you gotta check them out, just because. I've found several remakes I find enjoyable, whether I liked the original or not. I don't have the issues with remakes like others do. I just wish there was more original stuff the the deluge of remakes we have been getting recently. Not ALL the ideas are depleted, dammit. THINK!

If it isn't remakes, it's sequels/prequels. People don't believe in originality anymore.

I think it's more people don't believe they can establish something new in a market that's mainly based on familiarity. Characters have been made that are so iconic, people are afraid to try and compete and fail. Adam Green shows that it is possible to do, but he's the minority here.

Very true. Victor Crowley was definitely an exception. For every 1 of him we get about 10 Creepers and Trevor Moorehouses.

Thing is, I think the Creeper could have had more life in it, but the company didn't take a chance on expanding on it. I personally think they dropped the ball there because they weren't willing to take a chance.

I'd have settled for a direct to DVD sequel.

I agree. Not everything needs to be released theatrically. A lot of direct to video/dvd movies have been absolutely great over the decades, and there are always people out there that make the investments worth it.

I'm wondering if Chromeskull has a future, or will it end with Laid to Rest 2? I know that's been getting pretty good reviews.

I haven't seen it, but to just get a new character out there, I hope it succeeds. Althought, Chromeskull sounds like a crappy Ghost Rider villain from the 70s. Is he and the Orb going to have a team-up?

Possibly?
I know that both of the Laid To Rest films have been praised for their creative kills. Lord knows we could use some of those.

Yeah, there are not enough films out there trying something new. I mean, how many times can you stab a guy in the head before you've seen it all?

Chromeskull? Creepers? I'm so out of the loop.

Creeper from Jeepers Creepers (obvious now, huh?).
