The Poughkeepsie Tapes is a dark, twisted and torturous - presented in a documentary vision and style. Although it appears to look like its based on true fact, Poughkeepsie Tapes isn't based on any one serial killer. The town of Poughkeepsie in the US did have a serial killer at large a while back, but this film isn't based on them. This is quite an obscure film, and i found it quite hard getting hold of it. If you think of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, then scrape it through the mud and dirt, give it a raw docu feel,...thats how this film is. It wont suit everyone's taste, but i did find it quite entertaining. If you can find it, i would recommend it.

NetFlix has it, just not at the moment. Says long wait for it. May have to go another route.

I've always been interested in seeing this flick for the longest time, but have never been able to find a copy of it anywhere. I think it is on streaming services now. To rent, anyway. I've heard mixed reviews though. My interest has kind of died down, but I am still interested. Maybe one day I'll finally take the time to view it. One day. Maybe. I've heard it's boring and dull.

Found this on Amazon Prime, and I finally watched it.
Not exactly great. Some of the acting is questionable and not that convincing, as far as feeling like a real documentary goes, but, for the most part, a solid C or B-.
One of the better found footage movies out there.
I'd agree with your statement in a way, Gore FatheR, about it being "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer... scrape[d]... through the mud and dirt."
Sometimes the movie feels like an Errol Morris documentary, which is great. Other times, though, the movie feels too stagey. Not quite authentic.
I'd see it just to see it though. Disturbing premise regardless.
