Oh man!! This is only in talks at the moment, but I'm really hoping this one happens. So far, the only thing for certain is that IF it's made, Sam Raimi will direct and Bruce Campbell will star.
I really hope this film is made. More info when available.

I have seen all of the other evil dead films countless times, and although a 4th would be cool, I am worried that it wouldn't match up to expectations

Lol, to each there own. To me, I don't see how the series could get any more goofy or schlocky than Army Of Darkness was, so I'm not too worried about the film not being what I hoped. I'm more concerned about it ever seeing the light of day. This movie has been talked about before and nothing has ever come of it. The fact that Sam and Ivan Raimi have actually written the screenplay now gives me hope that this time it will happen.
Not everyone's cup of tea for sure, but this series is an all time favorite of mine. Love to see how they handle part 4 if it happens.

lol you are right, it couldn't get gooffier than Army of Darkness (which I have to say is my fave of the 3), but I just wonder after all this time if they will manages to hold the theme & story line together, as Army of Darkness seemed to be stretching the plot a little.

There are several Evil Dead games, but one, I think it was Fistful Of Boomstick, takes place in Ash's hometown of Dearborn, Michigan, and has a professor read the Necrinomicon on TV, thus invoking deadites in Dearborn. I think this would be cool as a plot, especially since Army Of Darkness ended with Ash back at S-Mart and the deadite woman showing up. Could work.

yeah that would be the best way to follow it on, anything else would seem out of place, as the films have traditionally start with at the end of the previous one

I saw the first one years back, I liked the second and third entries as well, if I recall. I did watch Drag Me To Hell recently and found it an enjoyable mix of horror and comedy. If the new Evil Dead were like that, I'd watch it.

I loved Drag Me To Hell. I'm surprised no one's started a topic about that movie yet.

This sucks: www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/jul/13/evil-dead-remake-confirmedOK, now I'm pissed. This sounds horrible. What would have been wrong with continuing where they left of at the end of Army Of Darkness? The Deadites get released in Deerborn, MI. That would have been a great premise to go off of. I really have no interest in seeing this if Bruce Campbell isn't in it.

No idea Lee. This is not good news. Not saying the film won't be good, and I'm sure I'll watch it...it's Raimi and the Evil Dead.
But, was really looking forward to a continuation of the series.

OK, more info on this. Still just in the works, keep in mind. Apparently Evil Dead 4(or possibly Army Of Darkness 2) is an entirely different entity than the re-make of Evil Dead also in the works. Sam Raimi would direct the sequel, while Federico Alvarez would direct the re-make. The Evil Dead re-make will not star Bruce Campbell, but may have him in a cameo, as this is a re-imagining of the first Evil Dead. Evil Dead 4(?) is a sequel and Raimi has said he won't do the film if Bruce Campbell doesn't return as Ash. So, no Campbell in the re-make of the first, but a must have in the sequel. Confused yet?
