Ahh, cool deal!! Thanks for the info. Always interesting what goes on behind the scenes, lol. Hansen definitely did a number on the belt. At least it was able to be repaired and put back in somewhat good condition.

I love stuff like that. I love hearing the behind the scenes stuff that the old timers would never talk about publicly. Kayfabe was a way of life for those guys back then.

Hansen was in the building that night of the bockwinkel match. Amd i forget why he got mad but he was at the arena and left and took the belt with him. He was supposed to drop the belt to bockwinkel that night. And hansen was there people seen him but he then left and took the belt with him. And he was NOT supposed to bring the belt to japan and defend it there. There was no deal for that to happen. I know someome said there was but thats a lie. The only thing i dont remember is why he got mad and mefr the arena. But he should habe ledr the belt with Verne. He didnt plan om coming back to the AWA so it was just a dick move and it wasnt his. And hansen gomself has said it was the wrong thing to do and regrets doing it. The weird thing is, hansen was at the arena to make the defense but then walked out and left. I think he got mad because Verne wanted him to stay there and defend the belt and hansen told him japan came first and always would. So Verne told him he would drop the belt to bockwinkel and he said it up. And one Hanson got to the arena he got pissed off when they had that talk and he left and took the bilt with him and the rest is history
