I'm a big fan of the IC belt with the white strap. It's sexy.

It's definitely a sweet replica. Figs has a new Winged Eagle replica coming out in October, I think. If it's made in the new way they did this IC, that thing is going to be smoking. Definitely be selling one of mine to get one.

I thought this was interesting, as not a lot of folks know this footage exists. When Patterson showed up on WWF TV with the new IC belt for the first time, he claimed that he tossed the North American belt off the Golden Gate bridge because it meant nothing to him compared to the IC title, lol. I guess Vince Sr. had some kind of deal going with NJPW, because here's what really happened to the title. If you look up the WWF NA title on Wiki, it says Sakaguchi held the title until 1981 when the WWF abandoned the title. The title maybe, but they did keep the belt. In 1984, then WWF tag team champs Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson were informed that they'd be dropping the belts to Dick Murdoch and Adrian Adonis. Atlas got mad and threw his belt on the ground, breaking it. So, when Murdoch and Adonis won the belts, they gave them one tag team belt and the old NA belt. Adonis is holding it in this picture.

That first red IC belt looked fantastic. The IC belt has always looked good thankfully, and I love the "classic new" belt they have right now. Hoping for a better, updated WWE title myself.

Me too. I keep hoping that with them bringing back the "classic" IC belt they're using now, that it's a sign that the new WWE belt will be either an updated Winged Eagle, or at least the Big Eagle that Austin was given.
Anything would pretty much be an improvement over the spinner, IMO...but they sell so many of the replicas. I'm sure it doesn't matter to Vince at all that the belt looks like ass as long as it's making money.

I understand the replica's sell, so why can't they just sell those and get a new, more dignified belt? With all the smack Punk talks about the company in his heel persona, you'd think he'd rag on the belt and debut a new one, even if just for story purposes.
It kills me because a custom belt isn't necessarily a bad thing, but once the person who it's designed for loses the title, the belt should then disappear because someone else holding it looks silly. Such has been the case for many years now. I can't imagine anyone loves lugging that gaudy thing around.

I agree with you, and I've read that a lot of the guys that have worn the spinner complained about it, mostly about how heavy and bulky it is. I guess they're afraid if it's taken off of TV, the mass target audience will forget about it and stop buying it. I find that hard to believe. I haven't been to a wrestling match live in a long time, but I'd be willing to bet there are kiosks all over the arena selling replica belts.

They still sell the Smoking Skull belt I believe, so that explanation is total crap as far as I'm concerned.
Oh well, as long as they keep that beautiful white strap belt, I'll be happy.

Latest word on a new WWE belt that I've read was from Punk in Oct. at the Ohio Comic-Con. Someone asked if he had any input on the new belt... "I’d like to say that I have a little bit of say in that, but I just keep getting the runaround. I don’t know if they’re saving the new design for somebody else or what the deal is. But they’re sick of me asking about it, I know that." Hopefully soon.

I'm sick of waiting for it. I've wanted a new belt for years!

I'd take the winged eagle that they had during the Attitude Era if they revive anything. A good looking belt it was, and they do sell that as well. Just give us something that looks like a real title. Not that sparkly ish you'd find on a Barbie wrestling doll.

Even Barbie would give that belt back.

You know it's bad when even the wrestlers are complaining about it.

You'd think that would be a good reason to change it. I guess not.
