I was gonna ask if that was on your tablet, then I went to your DA page. I like it!! How much does the software cost? I would imagine it's pretty pricey.

Well, the programs I want, one would probably cost me $90 (ArtRage 3), and Photoshop, Illustrator and Manga Studio (a great tool for inking and drawing) are anywhere from $300 to $1000 each. Might be able to get the student discount with some finagling, but it's still pricy.

That's crazy expensive. What would a student discount get you? Half off?

Somewhere around that, yeah. And I'm not a program bootlegger. Never really was. Plus, if I were to get the new programs, I'd need a new computer for them. This one I don't think can support too many new programs.
Hell, I only have a gig of harddrive space left on this machine.

You using a laptop or a PC? I only ask because you could always get a new hard drive, or an external for either. But if your processor won't handle it, not much you can really do about that.

Laptop. And I DO have an external HD, 500 gigs. And THAT's full, too.
It's a memory issue. Nortons screws a lot up, and this machine is over 4 years old. Hell, my computer was freezing horribly the last 3 months before I updated Firefox again this week.

I'm not going to go into the numerous reasons I hate Norton. If it works for you, cool. I have a 475 GB drive internal, and then found a 1TB external on sale. Filling up quick. It's a lot of space, but I save a lot of pics and stuff.
If you're handy with PC's, Tiger Direct always has a good deal going on a build it yourself kit. Or memory on the cheap. But, I've never ripped open a laptop. I can tear up a PC, but a laptop is not something I'd be comfortable getting inside of.

I need a laptop. I don't have a desk. I'm in my bedroom. I got a lot I want to get. A new tablet (this one in particular - www.wacom.com/en/products/cintiq/cintiq22hd.aspx). Corel Painter. Photoshop. Illustrator. Manga Studio. Etc. I think I would have to go with a Mac, as much as it pains me to say.

Being a Windows guy, I can say I think I'd like to have a Mac too. I just can't afford one. Oh, and that link didn't work for me, I'd like to see what it was.

That worked. Now I got you on a tablet, makes much more sense. I thought you were using a tablet like this one, lol. 2 grand is a lot of money, but if it pays for itself...I guess it's worth it.

It'd be much easier than doing what I do, which is drawing on it while looking up at the computer screen. It took a while to get that down, man. That was rough. Now, it's just about positioning. It's not like I shift the tablet around and upside down like I can a piece of paper on a clipboard. My tablet, 4-5 years old. A Wacom Graphire4 USB pen tablet. Mine is 4" x 5", so it's a small face. Not a huge issue for me, since I don't normally use large, long broad strokes when drawing. This tablet is long out of date, and is no longer produced. It's been replaced by the Bamboo. I luckily got mine for $90 (down from $100) and a $40 rebate. So worth it. Also, I'd love to have a tablet like you pictured to bring comics 1000 with me to work and not have to carry 10 long boxes with me.

I have no idea what a tablet, yours or the one I posted, even does. I can't figure out most of what my phone does.

Well, my tablet is essentially a tool that allows you to write or draw directly on the computer as if it were pencil and paper. It also comes with a mouse, and the pen can be used as one as well.
The tablet you posted is a toy that's like your average smart phone, with games, books, music, short battery life (if one of my student's iPad indicated), programs, wifi, etc. I want one because there are some cool games on it, art programs, and to read comics whenever I want.
