A fun set of films (the first 3 anyway) about alien creatures wreaking havoc on small town folk (the first 2) before taking on the big city (part 3). A good balance of horror and humor. The 4th takes place in space, and it sucks.
Critters - 1986
"A massive ball of furry creatures from another world eat their way through a small mid-western town followed by intergalactic bounty hunters opposed only by militant townspeople. "
Critters 2 - 1988
My personal favorite of them all. That Easter Bunny scene scared me so bad as a kid. This movie also has one of the funniest lines ever...subtitled?
"A batch of unhatched critter eggs are mistaken for Easter eggs by the country-folk inhabitants of Grover's Bend and, before long, the ferocious furballs are on the rampage again."
Critters 3 - 1991
It's Leonardo DiCaprio's film debut and it has the Grandma from Happy Gilmore! Ending credit sequence is overly long, but a decent watch nonetheless.
Critters 4 - 1992
Brad Dourif, how could you!?

That will be what I remember this series for the most. That one iconic scene is why I have to get that 4 pack.

Part 2 is comedy gold and has some awesome effects. One of my favorite sequels.

I remember being terrified of the Critters as a child. Loved these movies as an adult.

Those movies really are chock full of corny ass humor. 2 bounty hunters named Ug and Lee? So stupid, but so funny.

I've never seen any of these movies. Never seen a Ghoulies movie either. I was a teen when they came out and I was "too cool" for them at the time. Had to be hardcore or I wasn't part of the clique, lol.
Then I got older and life got in the way and just never got around to them. Would I not get..."it"... if I watched them today? Has that magical moment where I would have loved them for life passed, or would I still enjoy them?

I think you'd at least enjoy the first 2. You're never too old for funny creature features.

OK, I'll have to check it out sometime. Funny, I saw Gremlins but never this series or Ghoulies and they were all around the same time frame.

It's good, cheesy fun which I think you'll enjoy. 3 isn't as good and kinda feels like the same old thing, so I'd say don't watch it unless you really feel the need to, and 4 just flat out blows. First 2 though, good times.

If that doesn't convince him it's worth watching, nothing will.
