I only just learned about this thanks to commercials on A&E. A Psycho prequel series. screenrant.com/ae-psycho-prequel-series-bates-motel-yman-185349/It looks as though Norman Bates will be terrorizing unlucky travelers once more, as A&E recently announced they’ve ordered a full season of Bates Motel from former Lost writer and executive producer Carlton Cuse, with the intention of having the series ready to air by 2013.
A&E joins NBC in bringing another monstrous movie murderer to the small screen to more closely examine what makes him tick. Similar to what Bryan Fuller’s upcoming Hannibal series plans to do with Hannibal Lecter, A&E’s Bates Motel will feature a younger version of Norman Bates (originally played to perfection by actor Anthony Perkins in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 horror masterpiece, Psycho) and place him front and center in the storyline. Click the link for the full article. The commercials on A&E are 10 seconds long and show nothing like the one above.

That looks OK from what you posted. I'd have to watch it and see if I could get into it. Something like this, I don't know. Looks very interesting though, I'd definitely give it a shot.

Could be decent, but I personally think a few episodes long mini-series works better. How long can this realistically go as an ongoing series?

You never really got a lot of background on Norman Bates and his mother in the original movie. You knew the basics, but never got to see what their lives were like before the movie. So, it would be kind of cool to have the show focus on that. But, I just don't know if I could get into it. I'll know after pretty much one or two episodes if it's for me.

I don't know. Could be good, could be better off as a mini-series so...a solid maybe?

If it is a hit, how long do you keep it going though? I really question how long you could make a series based on this material.

Be interesting to see how they try to do it.

I just hope if it does work out they don't try and continue it with stupid contrivance when the series is of the type that has a clear and definite end.

Been watching the series, so far I'm liking it. The actor that plays young Norman reminds me of Tony Perkins. Is anyone else here watching?
Nicely done music video from season 1, I especially like how they ended it...

My girlfriend loves this show. I have it on my Netflix queue to watch eventually. Lately I've been watching Breaking Bad.

I never did watch this, not even an episode. I should check at least a few out anyway.
