So, I converted them all and have been watching them here and there. They aren't bad, but it's easy to see why the series didn't last long. They attached themselves to the Freddy name, but the episodes had nothing to do with him most of the time. He might make a cameo, but mostly he introduced the story, and that was all you saw of him until the end. And the stories weren't exactly great.
The pilot episode is probably what grabbed everyone, but after that it just went down. Not terrible, kind of like Tales From the Darkside, if you know what I mean. Not horrible, but not real good. I like em, but the mainstream audience was just bleh.
Still it went for 2 seasons and had 44 episodes made which is OK. I can't figure out how to upload one here like I was going to, so that's no good. But you guys get the gist anyway.

I loved Tales From The Darkside.
Hey, Englund did what he could, and it kept him busy. Definitely wouldn't be the worst thing he attached his name to.

I love Tales From The Darkside too. I still watch it all the time. And, I really like Freddy's Nightmares, I can just see how people who weren't big horror fans didn't. It seems most horror shows typically don't last long. Even Fear Itself, which was a great modern horror show, didn't last very long. The big exception to the rule being The Walking Dead now. Everyone seems to like that show, whether they were a big horror fan before it or not. It helps that for some reason, liking zombies is cool today...or maybe that's because of the show.

I feel like more people are only casual horror fans and hardcore fans are a minority.

I feel the same way. I think The Walking Dead is helping to convert some though.

Wish they'd convert more into comic book fans. Need more people reading those.

I'd like that too. I'd love to see the horror anthology comics make a comeback. I wonder if the Walking Dead comics have seen a spike since the show started?

Anthology comics are a niche to begin with. One that struggles to survive if it's not driven by Dark Horse Comics. Image had a series that lasted 8 issues. Shame, too, because it had some great stories in it. So far, only Dark Horse has been able to revive the anthology comic and keep it rolling with Creepy and Dark Horse Comics Presents. But they also sprinkle that with some of their best characters like Hellboy, BRPD, Lobster Johnson, Ghost and use it as a vehicle to launch new minis and series.

Who's putting out the old stories in the new comic, the Haunted Horror series? That's really cool, like to see that stay around.

Yeah, Haunted Horror, through IDW. They have another anthology going, Womanthology: Space. But it's only 4 issues in and I've dropped it. We'll see. Haunted Horror might be kept around because, for the most part, it really costs nothing to produce outside of printing the books.

Huh, never thought of that. There's definitely a ton of material out there for them to use. With most of it being pre-code, do they have to pay to use them, or are they up for grabs?

I don't think it has anything to do with being pre-code or not, but rather having their copyrights expired (like the movies in those 50 movie packs). Probably a lot of books out there that went and tried to be like EC but failed and their stories thought to be lost forever. I commend IDW for giving those books new life. I just wish, since they were stories from free to use material, the wouldn't charge so much for their books. Or give us more than 50 pages a book. Make it really worth the money.

I always wondered how they sold those multi movie packs so cheap. That makes perfect sense now. Yeah, they should be cheaper or bigger, it's not like there's a shortage of stories.

And it's a bi-monthly book. If you have to, make it the same price but make it bigger and quarterly.

Where do they get the stories? I mean, they can't be scans of the originals, at least not all of them. Do they go to the same places I go to read them online and copy them or what?
