So I just recently started collecting exploitation/cult VHS. I have been hitting up the flea markets, thrift stores, goodwill, eBay, craigslist, amazon to find all I can. Of course I really want the nasties, but I specifically would like to know any tips anyone may have to getting a good collection going. Recently got Xtro, Nail Gun Massacre, I Spit on Your Grave, and Zombie (Zombi 2). These are all clam shell boxes which I am particularly fond of and want to know how I can avoid getting cut editions of my tapes. Thanks guys!

Amazon and ebay are definitely some of the best ways to get stuff. A lot of people sell things for dirt cheap because they aren't aware that people collect them and that something is rare, but over the years it's been tough since it's becoming a bigger thing. This has unfortunately led to some horrific price gouging for things that are nowhere near worth it.
Another thing you can do is try and find other people near you who may sell or trade tapes. There are groups who gather to sell and trade things they have, and many are very reasonable. Facebook has quite a few VHS collector groups if you have that.

Just to add, one of the sites we affiliate with, VHS Wasteland, is a great resource for info on the old VHS exploitation films. I don't think they actually sell any of the movies on their site, but if you go to the links section there you'll find sites that sell them. link

Thanks for the tip, I will certainly check that out. Weekend flee market romp was cut short by my balling 3 yr old who got tired of me looking at tapes. Only got an R rated version of the classic Hills Have Eyes which was originally rated X for violence. Funny how tame things were compared to now!! Killer Klowns was my first real cult love back before they re-released it, I wanted it so badly so I wrote the directors begging for it to be brought back. AND if anyone knows where to get an original VHS copy I'm all ears.....
