I don't know what the root of all evil is. I think it's probably people themselves, as a whole. This list spotlighted atrocities by people in religion and politics, but people as a whole are pretty bad. Heck, here in the US we could put together a pretty decent list of sports figures that have committed horrible crimes.
I agree, a lot of horrible stuff has been committed and associated with both politics and religion, but I think that just gets pushed to the forefront since that's what people see and hear the most about. Pretty bad stuff going on in everyday life too, out of the limelight and away from the TV screen.
I would have hated to live during the Spanish Inquisition, or the Salem Witch trials. They were killing people at the drop of a hat, for nothing most times. Even today, it hasn't changed that much. People still want blood to make it all OK. It's ironic.

Your right, humans as a whole are a pretty rubbish species. Look at all the atrocities we have committed since being "top of the food chain". Im not really keen on people, and most of the time Im ashamed to be one.

Same here queenfreaky. I try to be a good and decent person, but I'm still lumped in with all of the bad ones really. I think the decent people in the world still out number the bad, but I get the feeling that it's only by a slight margin.
Then, sometimes when I watch the news or just browse online, I wonder if it isn't the other way around.
