"Lang Elliott, President & CEO of Sunn Classic Pictures, Inc., announced that Sunn plans to produce the remake of “CUJO” this year representing the 30th Anniversary since Sunn produced and distributed the original “CUJO” motion picture in l983, based upon Stephen King’s novel. The l983 version was highly successful at the worldwide box-office and, compared with today’s inflation and higher ticket prices, the box-office would be well over $225 million even without ancillary sales (i.e., DVD, cable, free television, pay-per-view, etc.). “CUJO” is the story of a large, playful St. Bernard dog that is transformed into a hideous killing machine after being infected by rabies. Donna Trenton’s car is on the fritz, and she and her son take her ailing automobile to their mechanic. Upon their arrival, the car stalls and refuses to restart. The mechanic fails to appear so Donna searches for him. The transformed, maniacal “CUJO” reveals himself; he is highly agitated and very aggressive. Donna hardly recognizes this filthy, monstrous creature foaming at the mouth. Suddenly “CUJO” charges Donna, who barely makes it back into the car for protection. Trapped with her son and the windows rolled up, the sweltering heat begins to take its toll. “CUJO’s” powerful state of insanity and violence await." www.horror-movies.ca/2013/04/cujo-remake-coming-this-year/

Remaking this is so pointless. I'm not a huge fan of the original film, but I respect it. This story today would just be absolutely silly. Now that cars have buttons to summon help and everyone has cell phones, how in the world do you make this seem the least bit believable?

They'd have to tweak the original story to make it plausible today, but I think it could still be doable. You're in the country, maybe no service...or you leave the house having forgotten to charge your phone and without the cord... Just speculating, but I think they could make it work.
Now, should they do it is another story. I know it's the 30th anniversary and all, so what? This is just a company trying to cash in on a film better left alone because they think King fans will love it due to the anniversary. I'm a huge King fan, and I had no idea it was 30 years til I saw this. Right now, meh.

It's a smart dog, Tomas. Rips out the OnStar wires mid conversation. You know it will happen!

Now, is this the same remake that's been turned into an acronym? Canine Unit Joint Operations or something? Either way, a remake could work ONLY if they don't CGI anything. Especially the dog.
I was so disappointed they did that with the new adaptation of Call of the Wild. Such B.S. Yes. I don't want actual dogs or other animals in harm's way, and PETA would have a field day, but still. Doesn't have the same impact.
Anyway, remakes are a crapshoot. Any movie is a crapshoot really.
The original has its flaws, like the whole cereal stuff and the crazy guy Dee Wallace's character is having an affair with, but all the stuff with Cujo and the mother and son trapped in the car is phenomenal.
I won't pass too much judgement on this one until I've seen a full trailer.

I'll still try to see Call of the Wild, but yeah, that dog they Animated looks off just enough to be offputting.
