I think I got a week or 2 left on this computer. Out of nowhere the damn piece of ish just started to freeze up and pull that not responding bullshit every 10 seconds. Hell, right now, as a type this, it's f*cking frozen and I can't see a f*ckiing thing I've written. I'm so angry right now, I want to break this piece of ish and a few other things as well. It took me over 2 hours to transfer my newest art, mostly digital, over to my ExHDD. It's less than a gig in size! LESS THEN A F*CKING GIG!
I don't know how much longer I can tolerate this. And I have to transfer over 100 gigs of ish to the external because I won't be able to redownload 99% of it. And that won't be easy, if it even f*cking works at all. I am so f*cking aggravated by this right now.
I don't have the money to get a new labtop, but I don't have a choice once this goes. I just don't. I need a computer at all times, especially with my art!
F*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck!
I don't know what I'm gonna do.

I know how you feel, I've been in the exact same spot you're in. The only advice I can offer, and this is what I did when it happened to me, is start an account with Bill Me Later and then go to Tiger Direct and get a new laptop that will do what you want it to.
Bill Me Later is a Pay Pal company that will basically finance what you get and allow you to make payments on it. The good thing about it is that payments are low, but you can always pay more than the minimum. If you pay the full amount off within a certain time, it depends on the amount, you pay no interest or finance charges either. Just the amount you borrowed. Another good thing, for me anyway, is not everyone accepts it as payment. I know Tiger Direct does and you can use it on E-bay, but it's not like you could go out and use it like a credit card.
Anyway, even if you don't pay it off before interest accrues, it's a minimal amount. Payments are very reasonable if all you can do is pay the minimum as well. I hate owing and being in debt, but you can get a nice laptop now for $500. That wouldn't take long to pay off. Another plus for me was that my credit didn't have to be perfect to get an account. I was approved immediately. Anyway, something to think about.

Damn dude, that is awful to hear. I hope you can figure out a way to save everything and find a decent laptop for a good price.

Just have to ask, the geek in me needs to know, when was the last time you reinstalled Windows and started fresh? That can do wonders. I can't tell you how many PCs that were unresponsive, locking up, just all around slow that I've done a fresh install of Windows on and made like a brand new computer again. It can't hurt anyway. Get whatever you need to saved or transferred and let's wipe that thing and start new.
You can even start an account with Xmarks on Firefox and it will keep track of all the bookmarks you have so you don't lose any. I'll gladly help you through it.

I don't have Windows to install. I was supposed to burn my own install disc, but it never worked out. Plus it's not just Windows, it's a 5 year old labtop. The processor is way too old now. And I have 100 gigs of comics I want to save, but I don't know if I can. If I can get it all transferred, I'd see about borrowing an install disc from someone and give it a new OS. Just a note, I'm still on VISTA.

My computer just did some sort of function when I did a hard reboot, a CHKDSK run, and it's working a bit faster. Which is good. But it looks like it deleted some files (in one case, a whole comic). I dunno what this is, but I think this will at least give me a chance to start transferring a lot of my files tomorrow, and worry about what was lost and gone another day. Plus, I can always ask those on 4chan's /co/ to get a lot of them back. At least, most of them were just simple images. No big loss. One was a comic, so I need to get that one back. Just that one.
So far, the last 5 minutes, it's running with no real problems as there were before. Either way, my battery is almost all dead (23% full, and that's the max since last night), and this issue, I gotta move on, it seems. So when I wake up, I'm gonna start transferring those books I really wanna get a chance to read and search for again.

That sucks. When you get everything off of it, you might consider downloading Tiny XP. It's a really small version of XP that is fully functional but only includes the minimum to run. You can find it free online. And, there's no product key or anything. It will run on some seriously outdated hardware and run fast. Worth a try anyway.

I think my hard drive is corrupted due to damage from all this time I've been using it so it's just time to move on and get a new computer. What I'm doing right now is transferring what I can so I can save as much information that I can't and what I can't I will try and redownload in the future. Hope it all works out well so far I've gotten some s*** transferred so its not Starbucks Perry.
Starbucks Perry? You get everything right but that at the end microphone?!

Man, I want to post a page and a half of why you should wipe that thing and install Tiny XP, especially considering you're only going to junk it anyway. Instead, I'll just say hang on to it and when I'm working I will pay for shipping both ways if you'll let me have my way with it. It sounds like I shouldn't be able to fix it, so I have to try. Just put it in a closet and forget about it til I have a job.

Hey NDX, I completely forgot to suggest Ubuntu to you. It works on the oldest piece of crap computers there are man and it's completely free and legal because it's all open source. The download includes the OS itself, Firefox and music and movie players. It doesn't need much disk space and the really cool thing is you can keep your Windows OS(if you want to, I'd chuck it personally), and dual boot from either Ubuntu or Windows when you start your computer. I've used it before and it works great and is really easy to install. It doesn't play Windows PC games which is why I always went back to Windows, but I don't think you play PC games. It's free man, at least check it out... www.ubuntu.com/

Maybe, once I finish my transfers and whatnot. I've transferred 80 gigs or so, and deleted 15 - 20 gigs of media that was corrupted to hell. Damaged beyond repair and transfer. So my HD is destroying media, and I don't know if that can be fixed.

Hard drives die. It's happened to me. I'm terrible at backing up and even if I was good at it I'd spend a ton on the media to save it all to. It's just a ****ed up fact of life. You will lose ish at some point.
Some of it is just gone, but most I was able to get back when I could remember what to look for exactly.

I'm saving what I can, re-dling what I can, and listing what I can't. Going to ask for help when it comes to that later on. And some stuff I'm just writing off as lost. It is what it is.
Now my computer's not even trying to fake charging. I got 22% left of the battery. If this decides to stop using plug power, might as well put a bullet into it.
