I like this movie a lot. Not as much as the original from 1968, but I like it a lot. I saw it in the theater when it came out and the only issue I had with it was I wanted to see more gore. When I read about it coming in Fangoria, I just assumed they'd amp up the gore from the original and I remember being kind of disappointed in the theater.
But, as I've gotten older and having seen this numerous times since 1990, I've really come to appreciate the fact that, like the original, it didn't need over the top gore to get the feeling of terror across. The scenes of people being eaten, even though they were minimal, definitely made the point.
I love the original series, and I think the Night, Dawn, Day movies will always be my favorite zombie movies ever. But, I like this one a lot, definitely holds a special place in my heart.

I believe originally there was supposed to be more gore, but they decided against it for some reason. While I wouldn't have minded that myself, it's still a damn good remake that definitely did the original justice.

I love that ending. Just makes you feel horribly sad and vindicated in 2 minutes.

Great ending to the movie. I liked the twist the remake put on it. The original was like a punch in the gut when Ben was shot. In this one you're just sad for him, the way it turned out for him. But then, like you said Scott, you get a good measure of satisfaction. I thought it was really done well. Good acting and good direction. I might watch it again tonight.

It's one of the times a remake really puts out a good showing on the same level as the original.

Tony Todd was a fantastic Ben.

He definitely was. When he's in the cellar and finds the gas pump key hanging there and just starts laughing, that's such an honest reaction. What else can you do at that point but laugh? Great scene.

I think the 1990 version is underrated. It's my favorite Dead series remake. I love the new revamp of Barbra. Patricia Tallman did a excellent job.

I thought she was great as Barbara as well. More of a take charge, let's kick these things asses attitude. Definitely fit well with the remake.

The original Barbara was pretty useless and annoying, I really wanted her to die so badly. The remake did a nice job of making her more likeable.

As much as I love the original, I might like this more. Just the overall feel of it, the characters, the violence. It's hard not to see this as a fantastic film.
