Phil Anselmo, former singer for Pantera said this recently getting many hyped for a possible Pantera reunion...
"If there was ever a proper presentation, like, OK, Pantera is back together, Zakk’s on guitar, that would be a massive feeling,” and that a reunion could only happen if, “…the situation would have to be correct."
Pantera drummer and brother of Dimebag Darrell was quick to say this in return...
"If you had an ex-wife, and it was a pretty bitter split, you might not ever want to talk to her again. Who cares if everybody in the family and your friends want you to say hello again? It’s your choice whether you want to do it or not. And I think a lot of people are selfish. They say, ‘Oh, he oughtta just kiss and make up with Phil and everything will be cool. And then they can go get Zakk Wylde and everything’s gonna be great.’ No, everything’s not gonna be great."
I love Pantera as a band, I love their music. To see them reunite with Zakk Wylde on guitar would be a pretty sweet thing, but sometimes you can't get past the bad stuff, and this seems like one of those times. Love to see it happen, but I respect how Vinnie Paul feels. Phil Anselmo was a real douche in the band, and I can see Vinnie not wanting to even get into this.

I'm fine with leaving it be. Let Pantera live as the legends they are.

Just wish I could hear some new Pantera. Damage Plan is good, but not in the same style. Dimebag was the difference, and without him anything else would be a knock off. So, yeah. Best to listen to the old stuff and just remember.

That's right. Sometimes you just can't recapture the magic.

A lot of pain there too, not only with Darrell getting killed, but the issues in the band before that. I doubt Vinnie Paul wants to go through remembering it all again, or reliving it.
