Forgot this belt. The original title was the Mid-Atlantic TV title and this was the first belt, no idea who made it. The belt was then remade by George Levy in the mid to late 70's. Best pic I could find, but there were a lot of belts in this style during that time frame. When Mid-Atlantic took the name of just World Championship Wrestling under the NWA banner a new belt was made by Reggie Parks and retitled the NWA World Television Heavyweight Championship. Love this one BTW. The next was also a Parks made belt and probably the most famous and collected. Dusty Rhodes and Tully Blanchard had a great feud over this one. This belt also was in the same style as the Hogan belt in the WWF at the time, maybe why Vince ended up changing it. Fast forward to the change to WCW. Next one was similar to the WWF IC belt. Finally the last incarnation of the belt, can't remember if it was Jmar or Parks at this time.

WWE needs to revive the TV title. Why? Because it's important to have a title anyone can go for that needs to be defended regularly to allow for the other titles to feel more... special when they are defended. That will allow feuds to grow while keeping wrestlers separate. Plus it could be a great jumping point for a lot of potential stars, give them a chance to show their stuff at least once a week mandatory. It should be defended once a week only, on either RAW or SD or Main Event. Never more than once a week, and not on PPV unless it's a major feud ending. So much potential there in a title like thaqt.

Yeah. The way the NWA had it set up was great too. You had to beat the TV Champ in 10 minutes, the match would continue if not, but the challenger wouldn't get the title regardless after that. Even a pinfall after the 10 minute time limit, you beat him, but you're not the champ. I like that for TV.

I think the 'E should make it a 15 minute time limit similar to the 15 title they had in FCW. They had some great matches and feuds over that title and it was a facking medal. They could reutilize that on the main roster and use that as a midcard main event for shows. Give people a reason to tune in and support some of these wrestlers that might not get enough credit for what they can do.
Best part, ANYONE can be a contender for it.

Yup, same way back then. You never knew who would be going up against the TV champ. Sometimes it was a big name but sometimes it was just a way to get new talent out there, and it almost always got them over, especially when the TV champion was a heel.

Heel champs are great to chase. Some midcard talent that could really use a title like this today are Rusev and Cesaro. It will give them TV time and a plethora of challengers for the title, while inciting new feuds.

Let's start a petition to get this title going. It'd do better than the US title I bet.

The US title is unfortunately on Sheamus right now, which he's not doing enough with. Even worse, Ambrose before him held it for near a year and seemingly never defended, to the point where they were even mentioning it on TV.

That's what's great about the TV title, at least back in the day. It had to be defended every week on TV, that was the whole point. And it was lost on TV making people eager to watch next week.
