"With the death of a beloved Walking Dead member, its comforting to know that a whole new cast will be introduced to one of the biggest television fan-bases in the world for the spin-off series officially titled Cobalt. The Waking Dead site revealed that the series’ male lead, Sean Cabrera, is a divorced teacher, and the female lead, Nancy Tompkins, is a guidance counselor. We assume Sean and Nancy worked at the same school prior to the zombie apocalypse, unless it’s just a coincidence that they ended up traveling together. Additionally, “Harry Potter” fans will be pleased to learn that Frank Dillane, best-known for his role as young Tom Riddle (aka Voldemort) in “Half-Blood Prince”, will play Nancy’s “screwed up teenage son,” Nick, who’s “too old to stay home, too scared to flee” and has “battled a drug problem.” Meanwhile, Alycia Debnam Carey (“Into the Storm”) has been cast as Ashley, Nancy’s “mostly level-headed teenage daughter,” whose “ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother’s failures. The new series will be set outside of Georgia, and “Hell on Wheels” and “Community” director Adam Davidson will take on the pilot." linkI don't know what I think yet about a companion series. I'll definitely be checking it out, but I don't have an opinion about it one way or the other.

Just stickied this so we have one thread to talk about this. More info... "TVLine broke the news today that AMC is planning to set the new series in the city of Los Angeles. How long our heroes will remain in Los Angeles is another matter, but I can imagine it would take a long time to escape a gridlocked Los Angeles swarming with zombies. The news comes on the heels of the recent casting of Cliff Curtis, who is set to be the lead of the series, along with Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey. There are still rumors circulating that the new series could be a prequel of sorts that’ll focus on the early days of the outbreak." link

I'm all for it. Maybe this can play when the regular show is on break? I do always want a zombie fix.

I really wish the comics would offer a spinoff already because I want to know what's happening in the rest of the world. I would love a Walking Dead anthology or random arcs the float from area to area (like Crossed Badlands but with less horsec*ck). Some other series that expands on the universe.

You'd think they would be all over something like that. People would buy it, seems like they're missing out not doing that.

"It looks like AMC is attempting to have all your zombie needs covered for the next two years. Get ready, we’re in for non-stop “Walking Dead” action. The network revealed today that it is preemptively giving its “Walking Dead” companion series a two season order. The first season is set to be six episodes long and season two will drop in 2016. I imagine that if things go well the second season could get more episodes. So far the only detail revealed by the network is that the show will be set in Los Angeles. The popular rumor seems to be that the series could be a prequel, set in the early days of the outbreak, but that hasn’t been confirmed by AMC yet. What we do know is that the show will star Cliff Curtis (“Missing,” “Gang Related”), Kim Dickens (Gone Girl, “Sons of Anarchy”), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm)." link
