He's his own style. I can't describe his work really. Maybe Bruce can describe it better, but it's dark and scary. Monsters from other dimensions, stuff like that. Very good author.
Dagon is a Lovecraftian themed movie, Re-Animator and From Beyond are both based on Lovecraft's work as is The Dunwich Horror. His stuff is great.

Nah, he's kind of easy to read. Poe can be tough at times. Ray Bradbury and Lovecraft are two I read other than King. Any book, even by a great author, can be a tough read. King is my favorite, and there are a bunch from him I had a hard time getting through.
The majority of Lovecraft's work, to me, is very good. And not too hard to follow, the way it's written.

My old man gave me a bunch of original Arkham House Lovecraft books when I was a kid. They were printed in the 1960's and have paper dustjackets with crazy-ass art on them. Behold! Attachments:

Never a huge reader. Lovecraft and Bradbury are two I always want to get into, but things always seem to come up and get in the way. Think I'll try some Lovecraft, maybe a book of short stories just get a feel for his work.

Have some of his works, First Editions, yep, that is correct. Some of the stories flow, others are like quicksand, sucking you end aand not wanting to let go, some were too long, overly detailed, boring, and hard to follow.

I must be finding those long, over detailed, boring, and hard to follow ones

I've seen quite a few movies based on Lovecraft stories, but I don't remember ever reading any of his work. I need to. I think I even have a copy of At the Mountains of Madness with some other short stories. Would have loved to have seen Guillermo del Toro able to bring that to the big screen, but that didn't happen.
My favorite movies based on his work have to be Re-Animator and From Beyond. In the Mouth of Madness may not be based off a Lovecraft story, but it's Lovecraftian enough that I would put it here as well.
Still want to see Color Out of Space.
