Think I will stick with good old XP Pro on my pc and since my laptop won't install updates, (no idea why either) I won't have to deal with Windows 10. Security mode has been turned off on the laptop anyway which makes things so much easier.

Oh, I still love XP. Problem is I have more ram than it supports and being OCD that just eats at me. I have a copy of XP 64 bit that supports tons of ram, but I've read that drivers are hard to find for it and most of my programs wouldn't work. Any advice in that area? Because XP was lightning fast on this thing.

I've never used 8, but I've heard a lot of folks don't like it. I have 7 myself, but because Windows 10 is a whole Windows operating system completely free, I'm willing to try it. If I hate it I can always go back to 7.

I have the disk to re-install 7 that came with my PC. If you don't have a disk, there should be an option to make one free in your recovery console.

So, I installed Windows 10 yesterday and I'm kind of on the fence about it. It is fast, and Firefox seems to run better with it, but it's so different than what I'm used to. Gonna give it a fair chance and maybe it will grow on me. I always have the Windows 7 disc that came with my PC if it comes to it.

I haven't gotten to play around with it on my own yet, only from my mom's computer right now, since I don't go back home until this Tuesday... but from what I've seen, I like it. I actually was a fan of the tiled start menu of windows 8 though (maybe the only one) so I'm glad that they integrated that still. It's just not as overwhelming. I think they did a good job of kind of combining what 7 and 8 looked like. It's better for people who are used to the look of windows 7 & previous versions, to ease into the more modern feel. They probably should have started with that kinda thing, instead of the total revamp that Windows 8 had. But again, this isn't from me using 10 every day, it's only the brief moments that I've been on my mom's computer to help her with something.

I reverted back to Windows 7 for now. I still have a year to get Windows 10 free again if I want it. I liked a lot of things about it, but I'm big on aesthetics and appearance. Chrome looked fine in 10, but Firefox looked terrible and that's my main browser. I just couldn't get past it. Plus, apparently Windows 10 doesn't support IDE drives. Don't know if that's a feature that's coming or if it's just plain not gonna be supported, so that was an issue as well since one of my DVD RW drives is an IDE drive. Think I'm gonna give it a bit and see what updates they do with it. It's fairly new and I'm sure a lot of things are scheduled to be added, so I'll check it out down the road and see how I like it then.

A good page to check out for Windows 10. It shows all the things to turn off, if you want to keep your privacy. fix10.isleaked.com/

I put it off forever -- I kept thinking it was some kind of spyware on my computer, that it couldn't REALLY be a link to the real thing for free -- but after hearing it was legit I finally bit the bullet and downloaded it. Took forever, but I did it . . .
. . . and I can't believe how much I love it. No problems so far, and I've had it for about 2 weeks. LOVE it.

The first time I installed it, I lost one of my DVD drives, and the second time I lost all sound. Supposedly there's a work around for that, but nothing I found helped me. It was cool as far as the web goes, but I'll stick with 7 until I get a new PC. Glad you're digging it though.

I am thinking of building a test pc after my holiday and installing win 10 on it, but also keep my current one with xp, at least until I have win 10 working the way I want it too.
