I was wondering what people's own Halloween continuity is? I no it differs for many fans in the franchise.
I'll start of with not including Halloween 6 because I've only ever seen it twice, and the first time wasn't properly. Also I didn't like the whole cult thing. I also won't include #3 as I've said on this board before, It should've just been released as "Season Of The Witch" not Halloween 3: Season of the Witch. I love that third film to bits, but I know many agree it became a cult and feel it should've been released as an independent separate film not linked to the franchise.
So my continuity goes: Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween IV, Halloween v, Halloween H20.
Not without it's flaws, I loved H20 though was disappointed it din't link with 4 & 5 which I also love! Especially with Pleasance hamming it up, specifically in Halloween 5. (Die Michael! Die! Die! DIE! DIE!) I liked the mask (Not that other one in that one shot with the dirty contour marks), Michael did look quite evil again IMO and I loved Laurie taking a more pro-active "face your demons role". For this, I hated Resurrection and how it basically pissed all over H20. (Although the whole film was rubbish story wise any way with the awful reality show idea.)
The Fan theories Of course there are many fan theories with the end of H20 and resurrection. When I watched resurrection the first time I assumed when they meant it wasn't really him they meant through the whole film and that really left me seething. I've read fan explanations that between being "killed" with the flag pole and being loaded up into the van he switched places with a paramedic, so that was the wrong person in the body bag. You can explain it with why he's so still being loaded up and grabbing his mask after waking up post being crushed by the van. If that was the case and they had already thought of a follow-up film, then why the reaching and close of the eyes before the beheading in H20? Why didn't he say anything if it was someone else? Did Michael have time to duct-tape his mouth as well before putting the mask on?
So what's your Halloween continuity? Your thoughts regarding the H20 ending and resurrection? Did you like the cult idea that cut into bits of #5?

To be honest with you, I can't really keep track of the Halloween movies after 3. I agree that Halloween III: Season of the Witch should have dropped the Halloween tag and been a stand alone movie, but it didn't do great in theaters even with that, and I guess they figured it wouldn't do anything without the tie in title. It's kind of a cult classic now, but maybe it wouldn't be without being considered a franchise film, I don't know.
After that the Halloween films kind of all blend together for me and I don't remember if I've actually seen them all or not. Zombie's films stand out, just because he did them and they were new. I saw Halloween Resurrection while visiting my mom in the hospital right before Halloween, and I had never seen that one before. Didn't much care for it either. So, for me it's 1, 2 and 3...with 3 being almost like a weird cousin or something. Then the Zombie ones, and then "the rest".

I'm fine with the original and 2018 timeline, although that leaves out 4, which is a great entry. Not that big a fan of the original 2 any more and H20 isn't all that great from when I first saw it. Doesn't quite stand the test of time.
3, as much as I like it, obviously doesn't make the cut since it is a one-off and separate from the whole Myers mythos.
I don't mind Rob Zombie's flicks. I prefer his sequel though. Anyway, I wouldn't say his movies are my favorite timeline.
5 and Resurrection aren't worth mentioning, tbh.
So, yeah. The original and the 2018 sequel, for me right now.
