Right now, I have a decent phone and a pretty cheap plan through Virgin Mobile. $35 a month with unlimited web, text and 300 minutes of talk time. I usually just text or surf the web on it, so 300 minutes of talk time is plenty. But, I get no signal at all at work, and sometimes it's pretty helpful to be able to look something up for a customer on the spot.
Everyone else at work has Verizon and seems to get a good signal anywhere in the store. I don't mind getting a new phone and doing the contract thing with Verizon, but their plans are confusing and I don't need a $600 phone. Any recommendations on a new phone and plan to go with it? I just want a decent phone and reliable service, I don't want to overpay for things I won't use or the top of the line, just one that works.

You mentioned your co-workers have Verizon but the plans are confusing... why not ask someone there about the plans? Surely, if they already have the service, they should have an understanding of how the plans work?
I've never had service with Verizon so I wouldn't be much help on that. We have Sprint, which has been pretty decent to us over the past couple years. I don't know about their signal in your area though, they can be pretty spotty out here where I live, but it's not bad enough that I can't use my phone at all, I just sometimes have to step outside for phone calls if the signal's not coming through clear enough.

Most of my co-workers have had their Verizon plans for a while and get unlimited data, new plans you apparently pay for increasing levels of data, like 3GB, 5GB etc. They're all locked into their unlimited plans and don't know much about the newer plans.
Heard Straight Talk was a Verizon subsidiary and had pretty reliable service here, maybe I'll look into them. I just want service at work and home.
