I never read the book for Under the Dome. (Didn't realize there was one.) I watched a couple seasons of the show and then forgot about it.
I'm chugging through the Mist TV show. But the cliches are killing me. They had so many opportunities for original concepts and characters and ideas, but they're falling back into simplistic, trite devices.

Which is why it's been canceled. As you said, plenty of opportunities to make a good show, failed on every level. Just a mess of a show. I thought Under the Dome stunk too, BTW. A decent novel and a great novella ruined on TV.

I'll have to read Under the Dome novel. That sounds neat.

I never understood how you could make The Mist into a weekly series in the first place. Maybe a 3 episode mini series at best. Good concept, but hardly something that you could keep intriguing over a long period of time.

Uaithne you are so right. I started watching it on Netflix last week. The character development isn't very strong and I too am more intrigued by the Mist itself. Love the book.

Huge disappointment of a series. Especially after such a strong movie from Darabont and company.
I wanted to like this series, but the acting and the writing just didn't sell it for me. Plus, the cheap effects and cheap scares. Just felt cheap all around.
Characters that could have been great turned one-dimensional. Cliches out the wazoo. Had such promise too.
