One of my favourites since a kid. For years the scene - one of the dream sequences, where the SS-like stormtroopers burst into his home and mow everyone down with machine guns - even the kids, haunted me. As an adult, it is naturally fine now, but for many years I was traumatized by that bit!
Agree about the special effects though, for it's time it was amazing special effects, absolutely nothing like it. Always liked his corpse friend talking to him that became a little creepy as a kid, although today it's more funny than anything.

Some of the scenes in this make me chuckle now. Not sure if that was the plan when they filmed it and I was just to young to get it before, or if over the course of time, it's just become humorous in certain scenes. I know some scenes were meant to be silly, but over the years I've found more that I don't think were supposed to be...but are. Still a great movie.

the only bit about this film that just bugs me is the ghosts of the victims sitting around in a porn theatre lecturing david on how evil he is. Its ridiculous, and the best friend whom was killed by the original wolf at the beginning of the film?? his make up is awful and unconvincing, and makes me cringe! other then that i have no complaints!

I get what you mean about the ghosts giving him hell in the porn theater. That's what I mean about parts of it being silly. Only adds to it's charm for me nowadays.

It's good when we see him for the first time and his first undead visit, still freshly mauled, after that it does tend to look dated. That's an unfortunate thing with some old horror films though I guess. Watching it right now also, continuing my week long horror DVD marathon. (Which was only meant to be over 2 days.)

My planned week long horror fest for Halloween lasted over a month, and is still going, lol. Of course, all year is Halloween to me, movie wise.

AAWIL has to be one of the best, if not the best werewolf films ever made. The prosthetics, dark humour, plot and casting is just right - and it still holds up today.

That transformation scene is still one of the best in cinema. And a revolution is FX as well.

I love how they made the transformation look so painful. Seeing his limbs and face stretch out while hearing him scream in agony just added so much to it. I can't recall a transformation like this in any other werewolf movie.
I did enjoy the humor of it, though for me the ending kinda ruined the film.

The ending was just...abrupt. I think it could have been made longer and had David transform back before he died. Didn't ruin the movie for me, but I was definitely going WTF?

I remember seeing a docu about the transformation scene. Was cool how they did it. Ive got a dark, sarcastic, dry humour so i loved the use of humour in it. The ending was just...abrupt. I think it could have been made longer and had David transform back before he died. Didn't ruin the movie for me, but I was definitely going WTF? I kinda enjoyed the ending. All the chaos in London, and the Cinema scenes worked pretty well. The beginning is also pretty damn cool. On the moors. Just a classic set up for something to go wrong.

The set up at the beginning is great, definitely the right way to build up the tension and introduce us to our characters.
The ending was too abrupt and felt very anti-climatic. He just runs out and gets shot. It seemed like such a rushed ending to what was otherwise a well paced film.

I know what you mean about the ending where he gets shot. Most werewolves get shot, so i guess its a cliched/classic ending, but yeah,...could have been better.

I don't even mind it being cliched, it just sort of happened and then it ended. Did they just run out of budget or something?
