The new Metallica album is great. Big time mix of styles, a lot of it really Loadish sounding. Definitely not Death Magnetic 2 like I was led to believe. Slower, more rhythmic stuff. But awesome, I love it!!

What the song would sound like using the tones from the first five albums. Good stuff, and when you get to the Justice version you can hear just how fast Lars is playing. Can't wait for this album and tour!!! Dude, that was really neat!

Holy fak. I just heard "Atlas, Rise!" for the first time. I would buy the album for that track alone!
Yeah, this will be the first album in a long, long time that I've bought on release day. Especially one by Metallica (I don't think that's happened since the black album).

Oh, mannnn . . . I love it. Might have a new favorite.
For some reason the riffs on the songs I've heard so far keep making me think of Motorhead. Which makes sense, of course, as these guys are Motorhead fans from way back (IIRC correctly, Lars ran their fan club when he was young).

Yeah james, they're big Motorhead fans. The song Murder One from the new album is a tribute to Lemmy. And, they have a video up for every song on the album! Loving this one too... Also, Spit Out The Bone!!!

OK . . . had a helluva time finding this album, believe it or not. It must be selling out everywhere. They didn't have it at Walmart, nor did they have it at one Best Buy. I *finally* got it at *another* Best Buy that was sorta out of my way, a few minutes ago. And I still had to ask them if they had any because I couldn't find it anywhere and the one display they had was empty. They happened to have one copy of the deluxe edition sitting by the register. Crazy.
I've only listened to the first disc, as I just got it less than an hour ago, but so far I love it. I'm already thinking this is my favorite stuff they've done since ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. Maybe the black album if I wasn't so burned out on that stuff (I loved it when it was first released, but at this point I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing "Enter Sandman" again).

Glad you're digging it man! They've been my favorite band since '84 or so and I've bought every album and been to every show in the area when they've come around. I listened to everyone say they sold out with the Black album, how they couldn't play fast anymore with Load and Reload, and how they should just quit with St. Anger. And I liked all of those albums, even St. Anger. There is some good stuff on there.
But, then they came out with Death Magnetic and I was like yes!! Back to form, more like early Metallica. And now, I think this one might be better than DM, at least to me. Like the way they went about this release too, with the videos and all the promotion. Great album, can't wait to see them this time around!

This is going to be one of my favorite Metallica albums. I love "Halo On Fire" and "Now That We're Dead" the most. I could listen to them over and over. (And I have!)

The bonus disc has good stuff too, a reworked Lords of Summer and then the live stuff. I love this band. Oh, james, I feel you on Enter Sandman. Great song, but I've heard it sooo many times. Reading that that's the song they're ending the shows with on tour now...oh well.

Still haven't listened to all 3 discs (I started all over this morning), but I will report my thoughts soon when I have done so . . . . Loved DEATH MAGNETIC, but I've never owned it. I plan to buy it soon. Believe it or not, I've never heard ST. ANGER.
