This is going to be one of my favorite Metallica albums. I love "Halo On Fire" and "Now That We're Dead" the most. I could listen to them over and over. (And I have!) Those are my two favorites too! Along with "Atlas, Rise!".

The bonus disc has good stuff too, a reworked Lords of Summer and then the live stuff. I love this band. Oh, james , I feel you on Enter Sandman. Great song, but I've heard it sooo many times. Reading that that's the song they're ending the shows with on tour now...oh well. Never heard "Lords of Summer", so it will be brand new to me when I get to that disc. Awesome!

Glad you're digging it man! They've been my favorite band since '84 or so and I've bought every album and been to every show in the area when they've come around. I listened to everyone say they sold out with the Black album, how they couldn't play fast anymore with Load and Reload, and how they should just quit with St. Anger. And I liked all of those albums, even St. Anger. There is some good stuff on there. But, then they came out with Death Magnetic and I was like yes!! Back to form, more like early Metallica. And now, I think this one might be better than DM, at least to me. Like the way they went about this release too, with the videos and all the promotion. Great album, can't wait to see them this time around! Lovin' it. Came in to work early this morning, and I've already got the earbuds in. Still haven't listened to all 3 discs (I started all over this morning), but I will report my thoughts soon when I have done so . . . . Loved DEATH MAGNETIC, but I've never owned it. I plan to buy it soon. Believe it or not, I've never heard ST. ANGER. You should give it a listen. It's just raw and unpolished, think it would be much better remastered with better sounding drums and solos added in. Still some really good songs on there as is though.

I like Shoot Me Again most from that album, but Sweet Amber and is The Unnamed Feeling are good, too.

The Unnamed Feeling, the lyrics...such a great song that would improve even more with a good remastering. The whole album would be great with a good remastering.

For anyone who's seen Some Kind Of Monster, you know Kirk was kinda pissed that he didn't get to add any solos. It's crazy to think about how the band followed a trend of other bands at the time by excluding solos. And Kirk is the one who saw it for what it was and knew that trend would pass.

There are some good songs that I definitely like, but it soured me on Metallica for a long time until Death Magnetic came out. I think that was them at their absolute best, a balance of all their evolutions and changes.

Hardwired is a freaking great album man, I love Death, no doubt. One of my favorites, but Hardwired is a great. Crazy how they don't play anything off of Death live anymore except for The Day That Never Comes and that's very rare to hear live now. I don't know if the band doesn't like that album or what, but it's almost as if it doesn't exist to them, which is a shame.

No doubt Hardwired is a good alum, but Death Magnetic and Beyond Magnetic is just a series of songs I can listen all day everyday without getting bored.

Beyond Magnetic...hmmm. I didn't care for it, don't know why. Just felt, off somehow. Even Lords of Summer didn't really do it for me until they updated it with newish lyrics. Maybe haven't listened enough, I dunno.

A few years ago when they did the fan voting thing, I feel like we got some of the best gigs in a long time. They played St. Anger, The Unforgiven 2, Whiskey in the Jar, Frayed Ends of Sanity, and a lot of other songs that they seemingly don't like.

codenamebags, saw them in 04 for the Madly in Anger With the World Tour and they did play St. Anger, but that was the only song from it. They opened with Blackened, so that was cool. Seen Whiskey live, but never Frayed or Unforgiven 2. That was probably awesome.
