Hey everyone... A new year means a new list of MOTY candidates... Last year had a ton and this year is starting off with a bang as well.
NJPW Wrestle Kingdom XI - Okada (c) vs. Omega - IWGP Championship Match
Now if you know Dave Meltzer, he's basically a mark for Japanese wrestling and WWE, you have to take his news/ratings with a grain of salt. Meltzer gave this match (I'M NOT KIDDING HERE), 6 STARS! Seriously... SIX STARS! I think it was pretty damn good, but not better than last year's Styles/Nakamura match.

Another great match early on in this year.
WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament - Semi-Finals
Pete Dunne vs. Mark Andrews
So good to see MAndrews make it into the tournament, I NEVER imagined he'd make it this far being a former TNA guy! Dunne and him had such a good chemistry in this match. Dunne, to me, is very reminiscent of William Regal. Throughout the tournament was attacking people before and after matches to gain any advantage he could. The only thing missing was the brass knuckles.

Honorable mention from the UK Championship Tournament
Finals - Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne
After Dunne attacked Bate before their match, Bate fought through a partially separated AC joint to win the UK Championship... AT 19 YEARS OF AGE! The youngest man in the tournament!

I regret reading this thread before I watched the tourney but it looks like I got a LOT to look forward to.

On NXT on Jan 11 #DIY defended the tag titles against the Revival. These are the matches I will show people when they ask me how I can like wrestling.

NXT San Antonio. 2 matches in and we got a contender, and a show stealer. Roderick Strong and Andrade Cien Almas put on a hell of a show. Yeah, I might be fanboying over the both of them but hell, they deserve it!

I didn't take long for NXT to produce another amazing match. #DIY defended the NXT Tag Titles against the Authors of Pain with Paul Ellering. I know the AOP are still green as goose ish, but hot damn did they put on a hell of a show tonight!

Well, Bobby Roode already has an early entrant into the Entrance of the Year category. But it's still early and there's a lot more Bobby Roode entrances to be had this year.
And less than 10 seconds later Shinsuke Nakamura might have just shut my ass up.

And those two topped their entrances with a GLORIOUS match! Nakamura and Roode go on the list.
Give the women honorable mention for putting on a hell of a match as well. I really wanted batshit crazy hot Nikki Cross to win, though. She was the show stealer of that match.
I hate you Daniel. I hate you Bryan. I hate you Aaron. I hate you Kyle. You all know why!

Cena. Styles. WWE title. Royal Rumble 2017. Was a really good one. Also gotta peg Roman and KO w/ Jericho in the shark cage. That was pretty good too!

I won't lie, I dozed off during that too.
Also I liked Kushida vs Takahashi a lot more than Omega/Okada, not that it was a bad match by any stretch.

Smackdown Live 2/7/17
Fatal 4way between The Miz, Aj Styles, Baron Corben and Dean Ambrose. Great match that had my 2 wrestlers of the year in Miz and Styles, rookie of the year in Corben, and an Ambrose not phoning it in.
