when your not even using real walls (they used white canvas fabric to make hallways, which the actors kept tripping over) you know you shouldn't make a movie.
the concept is good, lot's of blood, and has potential for cult status, but still shouldn't have been made - and they made three of them.

The first one, while low budget and cheesy, is a fun film IMO. The other two, not so much...but it's been a long time since I watched them.

hmm... i'm the opposite. I think the last two are better. still, a good series to have.

Need to re-watch the other two. We have movies we consider "so bad they're good" here, I think Basket Case falls there for me.

i agree - so bad it's good. i have one and two. there's something appealing about bad horror movies. i wish i could define the cause more. i'll figure it out. i do essays and reviews and blogs and doing a report on horror is something i got to get into.

Technically flawed, maybe, but it's a fun as hell film that to even MORE fun as hell films.

This was one my Dad introduced me to. They're bad in the best possible way.

I actually enjoyed the first one. The second one is so bad, in my opinion, I didn't even bother with the third one. I think they should have just stuck with one movie, and left it at that.

The second and third films are definitely a different flavor from the first. But I love watching the three of them in a row because it's just a seriously weird universe created around these characters.

The director said he found the title for the movie first. He came up with Basket Case and then made the film around the title. It's prob fun to make something that way, but it's not easy to do. I don't think this is Texas Shlock but it's very similar. Still, however, I prefer the other Shlock movies like Abomination, Don't Look in the Basement, even Toxic Avenger. I'm not sure they knew what they were doing with BasketCase and all these films I mentioned. Young, inexperienced, and no money at all can affect a film and I'm okay with that. They did their best. You should always come up with the story/ideas first, however... so you know where you are going, so you are grounded in your beliefs of what you are creating. I'm all for experimenting. It's fun. It's difficult though. Think of it this way... What if you came up with the title Friday the 13th first, then made the film. That could be anything.
