Original or re-make? I haven't seen it, so I won't vote. But, it's here for whenever someone does.

I like both, but I happen to think the remake is better. My friend had tickets for a free screening so I said what the hell, it's free so what have I got to lose?
It had the same mix of horror with comedy which I thought was done very well. The effects were good and you could tell the cast had a really fun time making the movie, which made it that much more enjoyable for me. Colin Ferrell hams it up in this movie and it's great.
I don't know you're taste all that well, so I'll say wait for the DVD. I think you'll enjoy it though.

I only see a movie about every 5 years in the theater, and this time it will be the The Thing.

I've taken to only going for matinee's lately, with the occasional theater hopping.
I went into the theater wanting to hate this movie, but it really shocked me with how good it was. It even had a few nods to the original which I enjoyed.

Man, really making me want to see this. I thought with Collin Ferell in it, it would be on most peoples hate list, but I'm hearing good things about his performance. Added to my queue.

I know some people hated it just because it wasn't the original. I mean don't get me wrong, I like the original too, but to be honest it's not really that good of a movie. It just holds a special place in my heart because it's one of the first "real" horror movies I saw when I was younger.

I didn't hate the remake, but I sure have no desire to ever see it again.
Colin Farrell was really good.

I didn't even know this was a remake. So obviously I haven't seen the original. But I was biased from the start, because I love Colin Farrell and I saw the remake because of him.

any poll you guys make i'm prob gonna vote 100% in favor of the original. especially in this case. why not remake crappy movies and make them better?

I can very much understand that way of thinking. Remakes should be for forgotten films, films that didn't age well, or had potential but failed due to low budgets or bad directors. Why try to change something that was already good?
