I binged season one and loved it. Can't wait for the next season to come out.
American Horror Story - Hated season one, but liked the seasons after. Asylum was my favorite. Haven't seen Hotel or Roanoke yet though.
Fear the Walking Dead - Absolute garbage. Quit after one episode
The Walking Dead - Got boring and repetitive

The Walking Dead - Got boring and repetitive I agree. I think we stopped watching around season 4 or something like that. Maybe it'll be something that I try again in the future though, I dunno. I stopped being interested after Shane was gone for good. ____________ Back to Stranger Things... only a month left until Season 2!

I am so excited! I have to wait for my SO to return home before I can watch the new season. (Lame.) I just rewatched season 1 this past week.
Stranger Things works for a couple of reason:
- The characters are amazing. Despite the fact that it revolves mostly around kids, every one of the main characters (the four boys, El, the older sister and her two boyfriends, mom and cop-dude) is given appropriate attention and character development. They are not gimmicky or stereotyped or flat. They're real people. We see that each character has things that are important, and we're not told that one character's goals are more important than the other characters' goals. This is a rarity in many movies, especially horror.
- There's a sort of innocence surrounding it. Probably because the main characters are kids, probably because it's supposed to be reminiscent of when many of the viewers were kids themselves. But the kids are allowed to handle the things that happen in a uniquely child-like way, and their courage and naivety help them discover the truths and save their friends.
- The setting. 1980s small town. Pretty neat - we don't see many shows that have this sort of approach. But also the Upside Down itself is an amazingly bizarre and intriguing world, and the way that it leaks into reality is fascinating. I find it very Silent Hill-esque, but unique enough that I'm not rolling my eyes that they ripped off of Silent Hill. Because they didn't.
