"FX has been creating quite a buzz with its slew of promotional spots for the chilling upcoming series "American Horror Story." You know the ones I'm talking about, with the pregnant woman in the path of a creepy looking thing in a latex suit, the presumably dead looking baby doll (or baby?) and the mysterious arms playing cello on people's bellies. Intrigued word of mouth has definitely been circulating, and in just a few short weeks we'll get a chance to engorge ourselves with what looks to be a veritable feast for the eyes. "American Horror Story" follows a great tradition of normal, unsuspecting families being thrust into a full-fledged war with the supernatural. The show's creators, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, best known for bringing smash-hit "Glee" to FOX and (in a darker and more disturbed vein) "Nip/Tuck" to FX, drew inspiration from standout films like Rosemary's Baby and Don't Look Now, but there is an entire sub-genre of haunting we can examine as we prepare for the release of "American Horror Story." Unfortunately for the characters in the tale, most haunting stories don't turn out like Beetlejuice with Winona Ryder levitating in the living room singing "Jump in the Line" and everyone living happily ever after. More often that not it ends up with an empty swimming pool spewing rotting corpses and the house imploding (or something of that nature). And that image of course leads us to a landmark haunted house film that managed to crowbar itself into the American psyche and ferment there. Unleashed by the super team of director Tobe Hooper and producer Steven Spielberg, Poltergeist has stood the test of time and become an iconic haunted house film. Carol Anne's trademark line "They're here" has become as infamous as the film itself. Following the format of the perfectly normal family moving into a dream home (you know, you never seem to see a dysfunctional family living in a shithole being terrorized by specters), Poltergeist was a perfect example of how a spirit begins as a playful entity, only to quickly become malevolent, even deadly." www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/ahs/

Never heard of it either, don't know where all these TV spots are supposed to be. My wife read about it in People. Yeah, I'll give it a shot. If it's trying to compete with The Walking Dead, it might actually be good.

Kinda psyched about this one. FX is obviously trying to get in on the market that The Walking Dead has, so it should be good. Starts Oct. 5. Looking forward to it.

I thought it was pretty good. Watched it twice and recorded it to watch again with my wife since she went to bed. Not bad at all. I don't know how it's going to be a different story every week with the same cast in the same house, but I'm willing to see where it goes. The debut was solid. Liked it.

OK, I paid more attention watching last night with my wife. This is going to follow this family every week in this house. At first, I thought it would be like the Masters Of Horror series, with a different story every week. But, it's a series, following the same family every week. Like I said, I thought the debut was solid, and they have big names in it. Sunday and Wednesdays are gonna rock this year. If you missed the first episode, I think you can watch it on FX's site.

I caught it on demand. It was an interesting start, and caught my attention. I will be sticking around for this, for now.

I liked it a lot. Almost like The Shining. I'm assuming the neighbor, the maid and the guy going after the daughter are all ghosts, or something bad anyway. Be interesting to see how this plays out. They put a lot out there in the first episode, so...gonna be tough to keep the same level throughout the series. But, I liked what I saw.

You guys missed it didn't you? It's all over the place. I can't keep track of what's happening. Scary and all, but man it's confusing. And I swear that was Dakota Fanning in tonight's episode.

It's got a Lost feel, and I wasn't much a fan of that show. But I'll be sticking around a bit more to see where it goes.

I didn't like Lost too much either. Halfway through tonights episode I was starting to check my sites, lol, sure bet that the series is losing me. Just can't get into it full steam. I'm there, but I'm not, at the same time on this one.
