I wish people would support indie artists, writers, musicians more. It's important to have authentic art (with mistakes included).
I learned about evolutionary computation today. This is the sickest, most vile, program a scientist ever came up with. They say it will help humanity but they keep saying that and I don't see it helping, only making money for them.
Scientists new about it in the 80's, perfected it in the 90's, and are integrating it now.
What is it you ask? It is a program that creates art automatically and gets better and improves it self (that's the evolutionary part) - It evolves.
There's more. Remember when everybody was buying up master works - like gustav klimt, the kiss, or monet, poppies near argenteuil, or van gogh? Remember how they were sold for millions of dollars? They were so expensive because there were secrets in those paintings for the scientists to learn (to make their programs better). The impressionists were working on something called dark rainbows. What that means is that they knew how to paint the light on the dark side of the spectrum. They were phenomenal artists!!! Magical!!! I wonder how they would have felt if they knew what has become of their paintings - sold to mad scientists, without any say.
So, to name a few names, and call some people out.
Stephen King uses evolutionary computation in his books. Marvel comics and Marvel movies is big on evolutionary computation. New Folk, New country, New rock - any of that new stuff uses evolutionary computation.
My problem is - it takes a matter of minutes to create the art (comic book, novel, music, movie), so why is it so expensive? shouldn't a thing that takes minutes to make cost 49 cents. The matrix used it and look how rich they got.
Why do you think real actors are pissed? Or why do you think the old Disney artists are depressed? Or why do you think the baby boomers are absolutely livid?
Why do I go to thrift store after thrift store looking for the old movies before all this happened? Why do I care about those old actors, like Jean Claude Van Damme? Why do I care about George Romero? Or David Lynch? Why do I hate all this new stuff?
Well, it's because of evolutionary computation.
That's my monologue. Thank you for listening.
