Stake Land, a vampire epidemic has crippled America and not much is left of the once powerful nation. The movie focuses on a teenage boy, Martin, whose parents are killed by vampires but Martin is rescued by a vampire hunter simply known as, Mister. Mister takes Martin under his wing and teaches him how to kill the vampires. The main goal is to reach New Eden (Canada), rumored to be vampire free. Getting to New Eden proves not to be an easy task as Mister and Martin not only have to battle vampires but also encounter a religious cult known as the Brotherhood, the members of the cult believe that the vampires were sent by God. So the journey to New Eden will be all that more challenging. Not a really big fan of the cast in this movie but it has Danielle Harris in it, so of course I was more than willing to give it a once over. The acting wasn’t spectacular by any stretch of the imagination but it was good enough to make this movie worth seeing. And, director Jim Mickle gave me a reason to like vampires again. I can’t remember the last time I watched a decent vampire movie until seeing Stake Land. There might be hope for the vampire genre after all. Stake Land is a little more than an hour and a half long but it was an hour and a half that I enjoyed. I liked this movie and recommend others to watch it. Side Note: the font they used in the movie poster is called evanescence.

A good vampire movie? Surely you jest!
Sounds like a decent enough movie. Anything that makes vampire not lame again (or at least does an admirable job in trying) is worth checking out in my book.
