Well, I really liked the 1990 re-make with Tony Todd in it. Thought it was really well done. But, you know me, gotta go with the original. What a ground breaking movie for the time, and all on a shoe string budget. Romero cemented himself in the genre with this, even if his latest stuff hasn't been so good. Original all the way for me.

Like I said, I liked the re-make, but...there does seem to be something missing from it. Not even as gory as the 1968 original. I remember when the 1990 version came out and I saw the commercial, I was pumped. Then I saw it was PG, and was like crap, don't know about this one. They toned the gore way down, but I still think they did a good job with it. I was hoping they would turn it up to 11 and have gore out the wazoo though.

Love both of these movies, but the original is a one of a kind classic. It's still the standard for all zombie films really. Still great to this day, and it's hard to believe it was made for so little money.
The remake is enjoyable and does a great job recreating what was great about the original while still feeling like it's own creation, but the toned down violence was a tad of a letdown knowing it was done by Tom Savini. I know he originally had more gore in the film but scaled it back. To some extent it did work, but there should have been a bit more to it.
I think that's why the original is better. At the time, nobody really had expectations for what it should have been. It broke barriers and kick started the modern zombie genre.

Yeah, I kinda felt like I was desecrating the original too, but it is a good watch. More on the story than the gore, but a good watch. Hell, way better than that trash re-make with Sid Haig in it. That was awful.

yeah that Sid Haig one was just terrible. I would put it up there for worst movie I ever saw. I really like both the 90' and 68 version alot but Ill go with original for obvious reasons.

That one with Sid Haig was Night of the Living Dead 3D wasn't it? What a horrible idea that was.
I gave the remake a chance since it was done by Tom Savini, and I'm glad I did. Not a bad movie at all. Very good performance by Tony Todd.

The 1990 one was written by Romero so that probably explains why its just as good just modernized.

But, the story is really sad when you think about it. Seeing people you loved come back like that, and having to take them out to survive. I talk all the time about the zombie apocalypse, and how much fun it would be to go on a zombie killing spree...but if I had to take out my wife or kids that had turned, that would be tough to do.
