I really miss the days when TV stations instead of running infomercials all night use to show horror/sci-fi and monster movies and these sometimes would be hosted by some sort of crazy character in a costume pretty much every area in north america had their own few Horror host in my area it was The Ghoul, Count Scary and Sir Ghastly Graves and of course the world wide exposure of Elvira and TNT's Joe Bob Briggs. Usually these characters where alot better to watch then the movie it self. The Ghoul would torment Froggy and Blow things up, Joe Bob was hillarious and of course Elvira was much better to look at then any of the movies she would show.
Over the last few years on my local tv stations a few people have tried to bring this stuff back but Wolfman mac and Ed the Sock just couldnt get the job done. Its great to see Elvira has brought back her Movie Macabre even going as far as putting them on DVD so people out of her area can watch as well, but I think things are still very bleak for Horror hosts because TV Stations make more money of infomercials then crappy old horror flicks.
Any other thoughts or memories?

We used to have Creature Feature every Saturday night at 11 here. The host was Count Gore DeVol, real name Dick Dreysel. He was also Captain 20 for the kids shows. He still does his own thing online, here's a clip:

Iv seen that guy while watching things on horror hosts and researching on them online. When was he from 70's, 80's?
Ohio's Ghoulardi probably the king of Horror Hosts. his show out rated Johnny Carson in Ohio in the early 60's Ernie quit after 3 years to move to hollywood where he became famous doing voice work including the opening to love boat. his son made boogie nights and Magnolia (paul thomas anderson) and named his company after ghoulardie. Sadly Ernie passed away in 1997. Drew Carey often sported a ghoulardi t-shirt on his show.

I think he was 70's into the early 80's. I've seen some of Ghoulardi before doing the same thing, lol. Shame he's passed on.
Would really like to see this type of thing brought back man. I lived for Creature Feature all week long, and then it was over so fast. Really miss it.

If nobody else has posted this, I'm gonna go ahead and say I love Chris Hardwick of The Talking Dead. I know, I know, it's a talk show. But it's about a horror TV show, and I just love it.

I liked following up The Walking Dead with The Talking Dead. It's a nice extra that lightens the mood after a usually very depressing show. A good amount of fun there. Wish it was getting its own dvd as well.

I like The Talking Dead as well and think Hardwick is a great host. Love the guests he has, and yeah, definitely eases you out of the horror you've just seen.
