This is a problem I had similar to Deviant Art, where people hack these advertisement sites and insert viruses and trojans in the adds. In the last 2 days, my antivirus has blocked 2 such attempts from this forum. Here is an example of what tried to get to my computer. I think you should know about this.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'll pass this on to ProBoards immediately. One question though, why don't you try FireFox? Not that this dosn't need fixing, but you'd have never known with FireFox. AdBlock Plus get's rid of all of it. I never even see an ad.

Don't you use Adblock Plus? It's like the greatest weapon against crap ever invented. I've never, ever seen an ad here. And, it's free.
From ProBoards Admin:
"Can you please provide more specific details such as what anti-virus software they are using, what specific error messages they receive, a screenshot of the errors, etc?
It may be best to send them here to talk to us. In an earlier investigation, we determined that McAfee has been flagging certain advertisements as bad when they are not. My first inclination is that this is related.
Patrick"
Posted the screenshot you did. Sometimes AV software will give false positives on certain things. Just waiting for confirmation, or you're more than welcome to speak with them yourself if you want. But, with all the users ProBoards has, I can't imagine this being harmful and not being taken care of.

If they can't tell that's Norton Anti-Virus they're idiots. Only place I've seen with a Big Yellow N that isn't from wrestling.
It's Norton 360. And I've had this problem through Deviant Art, where they use similar adds. People hacked the advertisement providers themselves and DA knew it. I had to get a new HD over it 2 years ago.

He posted that before I posted your screenshot. He knows it's Norton. This is his latest post on this:
"Can you see if maybe one of your members has an avatar image, or if there is some other content that is loading from that domain name? If they get that warning every time on a specific page that would be an indication that this is the issue."
So, do you remember what page you were on or what you were posting when this warning from Norton occurred?
This makes me want to pay the $7 a month to go ad free even more.

You remember anything different? Pics posted, or what you were posting on?

Short of paying to have the ads removed I don't know what else to do. I don't mind the $7 a month, but I hate putting it on the credit card and paying interest on it. I'll see what payment options they take. Pretty sure it's gonna be credit card only though.
To clarify though, you do not use Ad Block plus? Maybe you should install it and give that a try? It's the best ad blocker going.

Don't do that, just letting you know it happened. Proboards does whatever it does.

I've wanted the ads gone since I started this place. I'll at least look into it.

Ok Scott, I think we've got a way to get the ads that are doing this taken care of. From Ricky over at ProBoards: You may also want to tell him about the ad report tool, by pressing CTRL + ALT + R on your keyboard to bring it up. If he uses the report tool on the page where he gets the message from, that will submit to us exactly which ads were on the page he was viewing and we can work with our advertising partners to find out for sure if there was anything wrong with the ads I didn't even know anything like this existed. If it happens again, try it out.
