Hi, just wondering if anyone out there has heard anything new about Tommy Wirkola's (Dead Snow) Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters? Any idea why it has had its release date pushed forward an entire year? I was not a great fan of Dead Snow (a lot of wasted potential) but this new film with the likes of Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare attached looks interesting. Hopefully its not doomed to fall into the same pit that Terry Gilliam's The Brothers Grimm did, all style and no substance. The original literary versions of these fairy-tales were pure horror and it would be great to see one finally translated, in all its horrific glory, onto the big screen.

No idea why it's been pushed back to 2013, but the plot sounds pretty good. "Catching up with Hansel (Renner) and Gretel (Arterton) 15 years after the traumatic incident involving a gingerbread house, the siblings have evolved into vengeful bounty hunters dedicated to exterminating witches. Over the years, the siblings became expert hunters, famous for their proficiency at tracking and taking down their prey. Although still recovering from their ordeal, their work is relatively easy as for an unknown reason harmful spells and curses do not work well against them. Now, Mayor of Augsburg recruits them to rid the town and nearby forests of an evil sorceress (Janssen) who is planning to sacrifice many local children at the witches' gathering during the upcoming 'Blood Moon' night in two days time. To make things worse, the duo also has to deal with the brutal Sheriff Berringer (Stormare) who has taken power in Augsburg and conducts a very indiscriminate witch-hunt of his own" I hope it it see's the light of day at some point, and I hope it doesn't turn out like The Brothers Grimm as well.

Sounds interesting to me. I hope it's better executed than Dead Snow as well, cuz that movie really sucked.

So, is Jeremy Renner the new Ben Affleck in doing whatever role they offer him he takes?

Other than seeing him host SNL a few weeks back, I have no idea what else he's done. I'm really not exaggerating when I say I'm out of the loop.

He's Hawkguy Hawkeye in the Avengers. And the new Bourne like character. And in the Town. And so many other flicks.

This looks like stupid fun, but not theater worthy.

I'd rent it, but I have a lot of other stuff I want to see first.
