That sounds like a good plan. I do hope to catch this in a theater. Just seems like it would only add to the experience.

After The Evil Dead, I'm pretty much done with ever seeing a movie at a theater again. I enjoyed it, but I think I enjoyed the "movie experience" more than the actual movie. Don't get me wrong, I still think the movie was great...but, I think it was a lot to do with the entire thing...theater, previews, booming sound, the lights going down making you excited that it was finally time...
I hadn't been to the movies in seven years and I was like a kid. I was beside myself!
And then the movie. Again, I really liked it...but I didn't want the ummph to stop. From now on I see them at home. I don't have the money for us all to go see them anyway, and I don't have a 40 inch HDTV for nothing, although I'll admit an HD player is on top of the list next job I have. I hope my TV still works by the time I get one.

I can understand. Only recently have I really come to enjoy going to theaters. For decades it was a rare occurrence to see a film in theaters for me. It would have to be something I'd really want to see. Maybe once or twice a year. Hell, I've even gone years without seeing one. But now, now there are some films I just gotta see in theaters, especially midnight movies that are just classics I have got to see.

But, what if it sucks? Don't you feel ripped off and mad? That would stick with me at least all week.

That's why you have to be very selective, as we tend to be. We break down previews and see decide if it's theater worthy, a DVD viewing, or just one to skip altogether. Granted, you still get the occasional dud despite being careful, but it happens. Worse comes to worse, you sleep or crack jokes the entire time.
Also, you GOTTA watch the original Maniac. It's in my top 5 favorite horror flicks of all time.

So far, I've only seen 3 films in theaters. 2 was because I really wanted to see them (The Last Stand and Evil Dead). And so far, it worked out 1 and a half times in that case. The other didn't cost me or my friends a dime, and it was f*cking awesome (I can't wait for the BD of A Good Day To Die Hard). See, while there are a lot of films out there I do want to see in theaters, I'm only willing to go to a handful. Tomas is right, we're very selective, and at the moment you can count all the films we'd want to see in theaters on one hand, midnight cult flicks not counting.

We have more fun at the midnight cult films than most newer ones. It's slightly cheaper and the crowds are usually a ton of fun.

I need to find a place around here that shows the older cult stuff. Never been to a midnight movie, and with the right films I think I'd have a blast. There used to be a cinema draft house in Annapolis, where you sat at tables and got pizza and a pitcher of beer with your movie. I didn't get to go there before they went out of business.

The crowd really gets into those cult films. When it caters to a fanbase, it helps. Hell, this one guy at Masters was having a hell of a good time. It was a small crowd, but an appreciative crowd. Plus, I got to bust out a subtle Spaceballs joke that made me feel good.
Nightmare on Elm Street almost had a fight. It was awesome. Lucky that asshole didn't sit near our group because we were cracking jokes the whole film. Friday the 13th Part 8 had so many Rocky jokes made during the rooftop fight scene. My god, I still laugh over that one. The right crowd makes those moments even better. And sometimes, you just love a film, like with Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I don't even know anywhere around here that does this. We have theaters that show midnight movies, but it's new ones. I don't think we have one that does the cult stuff. Really like to at least try one out.

He feels too much like a cop there. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either

I was gonna ask if that was a holster for his knife. I'm not big on the blurbs they put on these things, seems like most are taken out of context, but I could see Elijah Wood being incredible in this. Looks like he's owning it in every clip and poster.
