I hate the "Scary Movie" series and all spoofs. This is because they are stupid, poorly written, have bad jokes and I love horror movies.

Spoofs can be good, but they aren't as finessed as they were back in the 80s and early 90s. Hot Shot, Airplane, The Naked Gun, the got the spoofs right. Now, they just try to gross you out and make your balls hurt.

Yeah, Airplane 1 and 2 and the Naked Gun series were just great. I've seen the Scary Movie series except for 5 and they don't compare to the ones mentioned. I won't say I didn't laugh in parts, but not nearly as much as when watching the others.

Back then the spoofs were better because it mainly made fun of one film in particular, while taking little jabs at the genre as a whole. Now they just try to squeeze in every reference under the sun which makes it dated quicker. What you end up with is an unfocused mess full of jokes that are not funny and don't advance the plot. You can still watch Airplane, Naked Gun, Spy Hard and Hot Shots because the jokes are funny and the story is focused.
To me, the only real parody that works with multiple references is UHF, and that makes sense in context of the film because it's about a t.v. station.
