So, this was another of those movies dubbed "disgusting", and "too sick to sit through". Supposed to be disturbing and in premise, I suppose it is. But, the movie itself was laughable to me. Yeah, there are some decent gore scenes, but over all it came off as cartoonish, like they tried too hard to make the gore over the top and it just ended up looking fake for the most part.
The story, and the torture people were were put through was indeed disturbing, but the actual presentation just didn't work to me. Another one I was hoping would have me turning it off in disgust and again, nothing. If you haven't seen it, it's not a terrible watch. Might want to give it a watch just to say you have. But, I don't see any reason to see this again.

I was very disappointed in this one. Absolutely nothing about it was shocking to me.
The things it's based off of are definitely stomach churning and horrifying, but the movie itself doesn't even come close to living up to it's reputation.
The only thing I didn't like was that scene with the cat because it was real. No animal should be sacrificed for the sake of shock value, especially in a movie this bad.

I agree with you. It made me feel the same way the tortoise being butchered in Cannibal Holocaust made me feel. Angry and kind of sick to my stomach.

No animals should ever be harmed in the making of a film. It's not like they signed up to be slaughtered. Hate when I see things like that, especially since it adds nothing to the movie itself.

Animal abuse and killing is a big turn off to me. It added nothing to these movies and just made me mad.

That's the main reason I hate Cannibal Holocaust.

This is why I'm so hesitant in watching Cannibal Holocaust. I know I need to see it at least once, but damn it's hard to just put it in the dvd player.

I hear you. Part of me wants to re-watch it after seeing an online review, but I know I'll hate it as much if not more than the first time I saw it.

The only good thing about that was the tortoise was actually consumed by the local natives. I really liked reading that director Ruggero Deodato now feels terrible about that and wishes he had never had that scene in the movie.
