I know this is like blasphemy in the horror movie world, but I really was disappointed by Land of the Dead... I heard so many good things about George Romero (he's even in one of the Zombie maps on Call of Duty) being a legend in the horror genre, but once the movie ended I was like "that's it?!?".. There was no final huge big epic zombie vs. humans battle that I expected, it was kinda just the heroes going from place to place and a handful of random zombies would stumble upon them here and there... I was expecting all out zombie rape fest, but maybe I'm too used to Resident Evil. Anyway, I was so bored I turned it off and than eventually finished the last 40 minutes two days later, and it still wasn't better. Don't get too mad at me though, just my opinion.

I hate you.
Nah, nah I don't. Well, maybe a little, but I just met you. I love this film, I find it the last of the good Dead flicks. In the end, Dead films are not really about the full on zombie gorefest (good band, by the way) but the human struggle to survive within a world where they are no longer the top of the food chain. Now we see it from a different perspective, instead of the need to outlast (Night) or for survival (Dawn) or man vs military (Day), it's about how even in this hellhole of a world, there is still class segregation. I liked how this was tackled and made for an interesting film for me. Plus an interesting development in how the zombies evolved, if you want to go that route.

You didn't like a Romero film??? I'm just kidding, I was disappointed in it too. It had been so long since we got a Romero zombie film, and that was it? Just didn't work for me at all. I didn't hate it, but wasn't good to me. Have you seen the original Dead trilogy by Romero? Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead? The originals, not the remakes? If not, check them out. The original Night of the Living Dead is probably my favorite movie ever. 1968, hardly any budget, and scary as hell. Classic film all the way, all three are really. Shame that Land of the Dead wasn't in their class. I was pumped for it when it came out. Oh well, can't all be great I guess. My opinion, of course.

The Night and Dawn remakes are great films as well.

I agree. Just watched Dawn the other day again, forgot how much I liked it. If it weren't for the zombie baby part....

Yeah, that scene bugged me too. Why waste a bullet on it? Ruined the whole scene.

I thought it was stupid, but that's just my opinion.

I saw this in the theater the week it came out and I absolutely hated it. I too was expected some crazy zombie action and felt that it didn't deliver, but what pissed me off most was the ending. These things kill all your friends and are a never ending menace, but you let them live? Are you out of your damn mind?!
I decided to watch this about 2 weeks ago (the unrated director's cut) and did a 180 on it. I still don't really like the ending, but everything else was great. Good gore, memorable characters and a really good story. I'm very glad I gave this movie a second chance.

Maybe I need to do that then. Only seen it once I think, and never felt the need to go back. Maybe it's time.

Yea the sort of feudal system of society in Land of the Dead was interesting to me, but I was just expecting total zombie carnage.

I've found that a lot of movies that I thought were lame or corny when I was younger I enjoy now, and things I thought were cool then are pretty cheesy and lame now lol.
