Oh I love knowing that we're all basically dead, just a matter of when. It does my heart good.

Finally got around to watching that whole Basement set and I must say, it was worth every penny.
Video Violence was probably my favorite movie in that whole set. The story was great, acting pretty good and the effects were impressive for such a low budget film. It had a really great and twisted sense of humor as well. Easily one of the best SOV films of the era.
Unfortunately, I really didn't care much for part 2. It had potential to be amazing, but it falters from far too much padding.

Yeah, it was more of a 50 - 55 minute movie. But, for the most part, it was a nice accompaniment to the original.

It would have been good if they shortened the pizza boy and best of segments. Ending was cool though.

Ending and the homemade electric chair were the saving graces of the film. All the other stuff should have been shorter, especially the pizza boy segment. That was the one segment I really felt dragged and was unnecessary. Otherwise, it wasn't bad, and not the worst movie in the box set.

It was certainly better than Captives. Both of those films really had great concepts, but both suffered from 15-20 minutes of boring filler.

Captives failed in the end because of how long it was. It could have been a stellar film if they just made it into a 45 minute extended short feature. Hell, in the day of VHS, that would have been more than acceptable.

This was a major issue with many SOV films. They would have long scenes to take up time instead of just opting to make a better, shorter feature.

Personally, I'd rather see a series of 4 short films that tell fantastic stories than 1 long, plodding film that tells a mediocre one.

Agreed. I'd rather have a Rammbock than a Las Vegas Bloodbath.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. A movie that got it right, so damn right it told a complete story, introduced new ideas to a classic subject, and fit it all in 60 minutes.

Finally got 1 and 2 of these today. Watching part 1 now, I'll let you know what we thought.

Part 2 has some real fast forward worthy moments. Just warning you.

Finished part 1, and at first I was wondering why I had even bothered, lol. But, as we got into it, it wasn't bad at all really. Cheesy acting in spots, but not bad. I actually liked it, and my wife was even liking it. Haven't watched part 2 yet, probably tomorrow for that one.

Of all the SOV stuff I've seen, it's definitely one of, if not the best of the bunch. It had better acting than most and the effects are quite well done.
The effects in part 2 are about as good, but the story isn't nearly as good and there are 2 scenes that will have you begging for them to end.
