So, announced today (or yesterday or whenever), Disney bought Lucasfilm. Yes, the company that put out the Star Wars trilogy, the Indiana Jones quadrilogy, and that other trilogy that claims to be Star Wars. That means in the last 3 years, Disney picked up both Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics. Daaaaaamn. Now, normally I wouldn't have a problem with this, but they friggin' announced Star Wars Episode VII for 2015. No. NO. This... this just won't be the same. Bad enough with got those miserable prequels, now you want to do sequels?! How are you going to explain the Expanded Universe that's been established the last 25 years in novels and comics? How? HOW?! Will this be Prometheus all over again and just say F*CK YOU! to continuity? Will they just adapt some of the more popular books? And if you do, how do you explain the 35 years since the movies?! DAMMIT! YOU'RE MAKING ME OVERTHINK THIS AND NOW I'M ANGRY!

I have a feeling it's going to be Prometheus all over again.

That's a terrifying thought considering how much I hated that movie...

Just... just look at how bad the prequels were. And how much time there is between them and the true trilogy. How are they going to work this seeing how old all the actors are.

Will they even try is the better question.

Probably not. People are thinking their going to take stories right from the extended universe and adapt those. That will never happen because all the best stories come from right after RotJ to 15 years past that date. Most of the stories that take place 25 to 40 years after RotJ blow. And that's me being kind.
Dammit, why can't they just get Pixar to select the best books, animate them a la Incredibles and give us the EU that way. I would kill for a Shadows of the Empire story. And Heir to the Empire Trilogy.
Or, well, anything written by Timothy Zahn. Hell, you could even do prequel movies that way. AND NOT IN THAT SHITTY CLONE WARS STYLE!

They're going to make something terrible, yet fans will go see it anyway just because it's Star Wars and b!tch about it some more.

I like how they announced SW7 right as they bought Lucasfilm. Oh Disney, you are growing in power steadily. Your evil knows no bounds.

I only saw the first 3 that came out. Never saw the ones that were prequels I guess, just never got that much into the series, especially then. So, I have no opinion either way on this. But given what I've read here, I'll say this is bad, just bad.

I am angry. I have no problem with Disney buying Lucasfilm like they did Marvel Comics, Pixard Studios or The Muppets franchise from Jim Henson's family, I just don't like how they're going to spit out "Episode VII" (I hate calling them episodes) and fast track it for less than 3 years.
