I'd actually like to see a remake of Cannibal Holocaust. I think it would be great today, without all the needless animal killing.

So, after some of the recent talk about this film, I finally buckled down and sat through it. Animal cruelty aside (some much worse than others, thanks to shows like Survivor Man and Bizarre Food), it was a, and I'm shocked I'm writing this, a good movie. The story, the presentation, the characters, all around, it worked. It's a horrifying film, and I doubt this will be viewed regularly, if ever again, but I am glad I watched it and own it.
It's a rough one to sit through, but I can see why it has the following it has. I also see why it's so damn infamous.

It is a rough watch. I still haven't found the courage to sit through this one again. Maybe sometime later this year. It's certainly not one that'll ever get viewed on a regular basis.

I think I've seen it twice in my life. It sits in my video cabinet mocking me. But, for all that, it is a good film.

I think 2 or 3 will be the amount of times I watch it in my entire life.

Definitely a piece you have more to talk about than enjoy. It does make you think, as well. A sick film. No wonder the director is remorseful about it now (the animal cruelty portions).
The worst thing in the film for me was the killing of the turtle. Not the actual killing of it, but how much they relished it. That was the most disgusting part. Acting or not.

And on a lighter note, this film has a great soundtrack, been listening to it on google play, very creepy.

The music was so inappropriate for most of the scenes. Really added to the awkwardness of it all.

That turtle scene went on for way too long. What was it, about 5 minutes? Just appalling.
The soundtrack is awesome. The most awkward moment has to be that happy sounding music they play as they're burning down the villagers huts. Inappropriate, and very haunting.

Yes! That just messed me up, Tomas. I was sitting there watching them have a blast burning the village and people and the music, it really made that scene, because the music was so serene.

I honestly didn't even notice the soundtrack. Shows how much attention I pay. I guess I'll have to let you know what I thought of it in 10 years or so when I watch it again.

Well Scott, you can now say you survived this movie. You're a hardcore horror hound for sure.
