One of the greatest promos ever.

Definitely. Dusty had a promo style very similar to Superstar Billy Graham's, with the jive talking and all. And, it's no coincidence, they learned from each other in the AWA in the early 70's.
Both guys would do great stuff on the mic, and their feud in the WWWF in the late 70's was great. Dusty has even said that was his favorite series of matches ever. Great stuff there.

It's so good because it just feels so real. You can easily identify with it, and you knew Dusty was speaking from the heart.

This was easily one of the best angles the NWA and Dusty ever came up with. I always wondered why the WWF didn't copy it to have Backlund lose the belt and still make him look solid.
You talk about heat, the fans wanted to tear the Horsemen's heads off.

Man, how did they ever make it out of there alive?

I have no idea. I wouldn't have even wanted to be there as a fan, that seemed like it could have gotten out of hand quick. Great freaking angle though.

Seriously. I image a lot of fans got hurt while everyone was bum rushing the cage.

Rhodes and Flair and the rest of the guys probably drank well that night, they knew they had just sold out the next card they were on. That was some great booking.

It's a great idea for an angle. Too bad wrestling isn't that hot anymore. Seeing a revival of an angle like that would do wonders for the stories.

So would having wrestlers of that caliber.

That's the thing. Rhodes was the key. He was loved everywhere in the territory days. Florida, the Mid-Atlantic, the Northeast. The guy could do no wrong.
It would have to be a pretty over face to pull it off. HHH probably could do it, I don't know who in TNA. I'm surprised Dusty isn't ramming this down Vince's throat, lol.

Vince has this little habit of not giving a f-ck about other people's opinions.

This blew up and it's certainly been long enough that it could again. Only problem is who? If it were the late 90's, Austin would be perfect for it.
