I already wasn't excited about this movie, but if this rumor is true, then everyone involved in making this film needs to choke on a tailpipe. Rumor/Possible Spoiler/Movie Ruiner

Well, I dunno how I feel about that. I really don't. I'm interested in seeing a story like that, but I don't know I want to see that as the origin of his reboot series.
Really, did we need a third Superman II?

I'm not even a Superman fan and I absolutely hate it. That's been his origin for 75 years, why mess with it now? It's part of what makes him who he is.

Very true. That idea of being isolated, adopted and protector of his new home, unable to lose it or he will be completely alone again. It's part of his character. Like I said, I'd love to see this concept tackled in a comic if it hasn't already been. But in the movie... no.
Man, it's a shame most of this has just been ish since that one teaser came out last year. Was hoping for so much. I like the trailers, but overall I don't want to give this money.

I've only ever seen the Superman movies with Reeve playing him. I liked them, even saw the first one in the theater as a kid. As much as I'm loving the Iron Man movies and The Avengers and all, I'm not at all excited about this new one, even before reading this. It just seems like it's being ridden into the ground. But, that's coming from a non super hero comic reading, casual fan. I was starting to feel the same way about the Batman movies.
I'll probably pass on this regardless if this is true or not.

It's one of those phases. It'll be gone in a few years (or scaled back significantly), then have another comeback, much like other genres.
Never have been a Superman fan, and I'm not at all excited about this movie.

I'm indifferent to the Big Red S. Couldn't stand him for years in the comics. Still really can't. Loved his death story, and gave us Hank Henshaw the Cyborg Superman, so it ain't all bad. Plus Doomsday. And started us on Evil Hal/Paralax. Man, I loved 1992.
I do love the first 2 movies, though. Some of my all time favorites. I never get tired of enjoying them, and I never will. But after 2, nothing's even come close to being a good movie, and I can't see this being the one to break the streak. WB can't do ish when it comes to their characters in movies if they ain't named Batman.

I only like the Superman animated series and the old serials. Man, those were fun times.

All this talk, I'm now watching Superman: The Movie. I love this film, have since I was a wee fat baby. I would love to get the BD anthology, because it has all 4 films, the Richard Donner Cut, and Returns. What I really want it for is the first 2 theatrical cuts on BD. And you can't find Supes 2 on BD in the country outside of this set. It's all the Donner recut, which I honestly didn't care for.
Also, side note, I don't care how good an actor Russell Crowe is, he's never going to be able to top Marlon Brando as Jor-El. Not. Gonna. Happen. Kevin Costner could make a good Pa Kent, though. From this film, I would love to see the scenes of Clark's life growing up. Now that will be interesting, seeing this cast.
EDIT: I just got wowed by this movie. When they first show the innards of the Daily Planet, it's through Jimmy Olsen's camera. In the bottom corner, you can see the light meter working, and working properly as he pans around the bullpen. Ho. Ly. ish. And I still got goosebumps when Clark first wore the suit and flew.

Just the music from the first one can give me chills. Love that movie.

I still whistle it whenever I feel like. I love that theme. One of the best ever from films.

That's about as perfect a theme as you could ask for. They should honestly find a way to use it in every Superman movie ever.

Well, the tried to squeeze it into Returns, I think. I don't want Man of Steel to have it, though.
Side note: 35 years ago Superman: The Movie came out. 35 years later DC is going to try and fail to recapture that feeling a movie had 3 decades ago.

Well, having Zack Snyder as the director certainly isn't making me confident. I think a lot of people still have the bad taste of Returns in their mouth.
