Even if some of this is only speculation, or what could be done with the new system, no backwards compatibility and paying fees on top of game prices is enough for me. I will definitely not be getting this console.

I heard they were trying to do the same with backwards compatibility with each new console, which is the only thing I've really heard (besides the kinetic spy which let's admit ... we've already invited too much invasion of privacy as it is on our phones and computers.) I will be watching, but I will be shocked if they actually are able to make it where you can't buy, sell, and trade these games ... it would be different if they just wanted to keep up with who is buying used games to get the numbers of people who bought and re-bought and sold these games, so I'm all fine with the new registration code if it's for the better of gaming, but to pay full price ... why would you buy a used copy? The backwards compatibility thing is something I hope they decide against though ... I was so disappointed when I had to wait for the 360 patches and then some didn't even make the cut. Remember, though, the 360 had alot of speculation in the beginning about what it would and wouldn't be doing and it sounded a little miserable and then it turns out that they were trying to incorporate the backwards compatibility and they were going to have different versions to suit different people's wants and needs ... I mean, I guess you could just disconnect the box when not using it and it wouldn't do much harm that way I suppose? Now I guess I'm going to be waiting and reading to see how they're thinking about doing the consoles.

Not having backwards compatibility is a huge deal for me. And, I own an Xbox 360 now, and while I like the console itself, the fact that I have to pay for Xbox Live Gold to play people online is ridiculous. I can't even update my Madden 2013 roster without it. $60 for the game and then $9.99 a month or $60 a year for live? That's a lot of money to me. And I think it's a complete ripoff, especially when you can play people, get updated content, etc. for free on the Playstation network. I know it's early and a lot of things can change, it's already being said that Microsoft won't charge to play used games, but you will still need to activate them on your console through the internet connection. Just sounds like a pain to me. When my 360 dies, I'll never buy another Microsoft console again.

Yeah man. It's almost like they're trying to alienate people...fans. They've done it to me and as soon as I find a full time OS that does what I want, I'll ditch Microsoft there too. They won't get another dime of my money.

Much as I don't like not having backwards compatibility, it's not a deal breaker for me. Having it really bumps up the price of a new system, and the prices are already damn high as it is.
I heard about most of these things, and MAN, it is truly insane. No way in hell am I buying this system. It's basically a money pit, and I want no part of that.

Not being backwards compatible isn't a deal breaker for me in itself, but it's definitely important to me. Being able to play all of my older games on a new console makes me more willing to buy and it feels like I'm making a more of a long term investment.
I've been off Microsoft for a long time basically because of the Xbox Live thing. It really got cemented when I got Madden 13 and couldn't update my roster without it. That may sound like a trivial thing to a lot of people, but being a die hard Redskin and NFL fan, I want my rosters to be accurate and the same as the teams on the field. To make me pay for live on top of the game to do that is BS. This new one sounds like not only more of the same, but then some. No thanks.

Microsoft is definitely digging themselves into a hole with this one. They make it seem like you have to have a 6 figure income to use this damn machine.

This is being trashed all over the place. People apparently aren't the sheep Microsoft thought they were. I'd love to see this tank completely. This and Windows 8 could put a serious dent in their reputation.

If it is a joke, that's a pretty terrible way to introduce your system and waste of a press conference.

I'll probably still want one just to play the games with the microsoft controller to tell you the truth except the invasion of privacy might force me to to be really sensitive with it. I don't like the camera and sound being able to do whatever it wants, so that is a slight deal breaker to me even though I could always disconnect it completely unless playing it ... I just wish someone would make an xbox controller for any console and then I wouldn't care much to tell you the truth ... it's the controller that has my full attention. It may sound stupid, but that's my whole enjoyment ... loved how they made one for the computer and still love that.

This things seems like more trouble than it's worth. I don't feel like buying all this excess crap and basically paying to have my privacy invaded.

I like the Xbox controller as well, guess just because I'm so used to it. If I ever do get another console, it will be made by Sony and I'll get this for my controller.
