No pictures (thank goodness) but still an interesting read...the University of Knoxville has a body farm, where bodies are left to decompose under all kinds of different conditions, to aid law enforcement in determining time of death for murder victims. here

They sometimes use these on crime drama shows. I remever one on Bones where she was like a kid in a candy store.

Wow, that's crazy. I know it's ultimately for a good cause, but this seems really wrong. Maybe I need to let it sink in.

It's in order to solve crimes. Seeing how these bodies decompose under certain situations allow you then handle them in real life, so you're not fighting them blind.

I get that, and if said decomposing body was a homeless person with no one left to claim...it, then I'm all for it. It's the bodies that families may say hey, this is cheaper than a funeral, let's send ma off to them and keep the insurance money. That may seem paranoid, and it probably is, but I bet it happens.

I believe these are all criminals that donate their body to science, or at least they have to be alive when they consign their bodies to the Body Farm. It's not just a dumping ground for cheap bastards.
