I thought I had already started this one, guess not. So, let's do it!
I really enjoyed the remake and probably would have loved the movie had they changed some things and called it something else. It only felt like a remake of the original in setting and in the scenes that were a nod to the original. Hell, the biggest scene that tipped to the original, the "we're gonna get you" scene was cut from the movie and then doesn't even show up on the DVD. I'm still pissed about that.
Anyway, after seeing the remake and liking it, I came to realize you can't mess with perfection. And for me, the 1981 original is perfection in all it's cheesy bad acting claymation gory greatness. I have to vote for the original. Love Alvarez's movie, but not as a better Evil Dead movie.

I liked that he didn't try and make an Ash character. Ash is too iconic and I'm so glad he didn't try and mess with that. I loved that about the remake. Also the blood rain. Loved the blood rain lol

It was a really good movie I thought, some great scenes. They gave away too much in the trailers though. Add that to the cut scenes and it made me mad. Still waiting on news for the unrated version, but I have a bad feeling that may not happen, and that would truly suck.

I've watched the remake a few times, and to me it's just meh. I don't hate it, but it's nothing I'd want to really watch again. Main problem for me besides the trailers giving everything away was that the characters were either bland or unlikeable. Except for Hipster Jesus, I liked him.
The original is cheesy as hell, but damn do I love it.

The original was one of my favourite movies of all time. I never got around to seeing the remake. Got lazy.

I'd say it's worth watching at least once. It's got great gore and all the effects save for one are practical.

It's a well done film and one I would own if they released an unrated version of the film. Or if it was dirt cheap.

Not putting out an unrated version is mind boggling. It should've been out by now.

See, if they didn't mention that they had to butcher part of it to get an R rating, I would have never known and I'd own this on BD already. But since I know there is even more hardcore ish in that movie than what we already say (CHAINSAW TO THE MOFO FACE!), I want to see an complete, unedited film.
Things will always be the cutting room floor. I get that. But when you have to cut footage to reach a certain rating and announce that, how can you not give us the version you originally intended?!

Exactly. They even said the unrated version would be coming out, and now it's been almost a year and nothing. Didn't even get the scene where she's in the cellar and saying "we're gonna get you..." and that was in the trailers. How can we not be given the uncut movie? It's just stupid.

Until then, I'm not going go out of my way to buy the film. I liked it, I really did. But I want to uncut version already.

Exactly. Give me the film that was intended to be released. You can't say "Well, we cut X amount of footage out because otherwise it would've been an NC-17" and then not give it to us. Stop the teasing you bastards!

With how big blu-rays are, you can give us both versions on 1 disc and still make a shitton of money off us. I would have bought that out the gate if it was unrated.

Seriously. I didn't even care for it that much, but I would still buy the unrated cut. Every other film gets 2 disc release, and you barely noticed the difference (I like Taken, but the uncensored version of that was still pretty tame), so why would a film that prides itself on being extreme, and flat out said its original cut was too gross for theaters not get one?
