That's still more than I had.

Im going to be different and go for the remake. Very unusual for me as I usually hate remakes. However, the original has never been one of my favourites, and (shock horror) I never saw the appeal or the big deal. yes its a classic blah blah, but its cheesy, and just looks faker and sillier the older it gets.
I thought the second one had a few cool little extras that made the film more interesting and added to the storyline.

I'd have gone for the remake if the characters were more interesting. I only liked Hipster Jesus.

Hipster Jesus needs a film dedicated to him.

I haven't seen the remake since we saw it in the theater. I need to see it again. I'm sure I'd still take the original over the remake, but I'd like to know if I like the newer one less after a second viewing, cause I loved it in the theater.

Both were great, in my opinion. Obviously the newer one had better effects, and just saw raw scenes. The blade licking, arm removal, and the face being cut off. But the older one is just classic. Grew up watching the Evil Dead "trilogy" and it just sticks with me.

Yeah, it's hard to beat a tried and true classic. Loved the remake, but I went with the original too. Matter of fact, I think I may have seen it a time or two with you...

Have to go with the original, but I really, really like the remake. I think it's damn scary, even with its flaws.
Here's a brief review I wrote on my blog for a "Best of the Year" post I made not long after the release of the remake:
They said it couldn’t be done. I was skeptical too. But they pulled it off! Some fans complained about the lack of humor – that’s what I loved about it. Others claimed there was too much gore – that’s what I loved about it. A lot of folks lamented the absence of Ash – that’s what I really loved about it! EVIL DEAD 2013 did something different, while respecting its source material. I admit I do see more of its flaws every time I watch it, and I’ll probably never again love it as much as I did that first time in the theater – I saw it with my oldest friends in the world, and how we cackled at that last-second cameo! –but I still found it to be one of the better remakes of the last decade. I also found it . . . dare I say . . . friggin’ scary.

My problem with the remake was the cut scenes that they showed in the trailers. WTF?? They cut scenes from the movie that were in almost every trailer, then said there would be an unrated cut with those scenes in it, and then that got scrapped. Again, WTF?? Loved it, but that pissed me off.

The original. More brutal. Scarier. Highly innovative. That forest scene with Ash's sister is utterly terrifying. I wouldn't vote any other way.
